I was hired over the phone and through e-mail communications, to represent BestReps of Las Vegas in a major grocery chain in another state, to promote a line of products.  They are an event staffing company, that is hired by major companies to send out represnetatives to various locations and promote a product - my position was handing out samples in a grocery store; however they also hire models and model-esque types to promote other things as well.  BEWARE!

I went out in good faith to do the work, after arriving at the location I was assigned, discovered another rep was already there from a different event staffing agency.  So texted the recruiter - she was unaware, and sent me to yet another location.  So already we are off on the wrong foot.  I get to the 2nd location; and proceeded to set-up.  The product that I needed to provide samples with, I was supposed to use their pre-paid card and purchase; however that never worked.  I spent over 2 hours on hold with their support line, which never picked up by the way.  Eventually a second team arrived from yet another staffing company, and they ended up purchasing the food I needed with their card.

Fast Forward 5 weeks later...and still haven't been paid.  When you try to call them - you can't because they don't show their phone number in their e-mail.  They list their address, and their fax number but not their phone number....hmmmmmm....that should have been a sign.

No worries - I look them up online, and call the number listed.  It is an un-manned voicemail box that is full - you get a recording indicating the mailbox is full and you cannot leave a message - so good luck in getting to actually speak to anyone.  I am left to try and communicate via e-mail with a phantom "payroll at bestreps do net", and get random people responding.  They say they mailed a check on 7/1; but no check has ever come.  I've been paid by another company that is out of state, that mailed theirs almost a week after this one.  The "disclaimer" at the bottom of their e-mail, is about 2 paragraphs long, explaining that they only pay after 30 days and to stop e-mailing them about it.  Would have been nice to know this up front BEFORE you asked me to go represent you.

The concensus online seems to be that others have had the same experience.  You go work for them, they don't pay you and blame it on the postal service.  No way was I going to give them by bank account routing/acct numbers given that I found them via Craig's List and never met anyone or filled out any paperwork.  I should have known better.  Don't fall for it - I shouldn't have!

I have contacted both my state, and Nevada's labor commissioner's office, and both indicate that it is a federal issue given the across state line situation.  When I contact the federal labor commissioner's office, they indicate they cannot enforce any regulation on them because I am considered a contractor, not an employee; which after talking to a private attorney, seems to be up for debate given that they quoted an hourly rate and dictated hours, required a uniform etc.  Anyway, it is now up to me to sue them in order to recoup my money - which of course will take money to hire an attorney, etc. etc.  Seems like I have been had - BestReps knows how to skirt the law, and fly under the radar.  Not this time!

Horrible communication skills.

AUTHOR: Andrea - (USA)

You spend half the time keeping track or correcting them. We don't get paid extra for doing their job! Forget it if you have an issue at an event. You may as well just walk away right then and there because they won't answer the phone or get back to you quickly enough to tell you what you need to do. If they even get back to you about the problem at all! They tell you it's okay to execute an event on a day that just the very next day isn't okay to execute on all of the sudden, and then they turn around and take your work from you at the last minute and tell you that the client replaced you with their own rep. Isn't that lovely! They send you debit cards for purchasing product with insufficient funds, resulting in you having to pay out of your own pocket. And we're not talking about small amounts either. They tell you to email your receipts to a reporting email, which is apparently controlled by someone by the name of 'Vivian', for full reimbursement, but you never receive confirmation, no matter how many times you resend and ask for confirmation. Then they tell you they spoke to their manager and to rest assure the situation will be rectified and that you'll get confirmation of your reporting emails with receipts, and you STILL don't. Resulting in a paycheck with no reimbursements whatsoever. Which brings me to my last comment... They short your check big time. Just got mine. It's short by nearly $500! So now I have to spend some more of MY time, doing THEIR job, and go through all my emails and texts and explain to them how it's wrong. I will never work for this company again. They are disgraceful in every way. Best Reps, you can reply to my same comments on your Facebook page and tell me how I'm wrong all you want, just like how you did with every single other person who's commented negatively, in an attempt to make yourselves look good. I have proof of every single thing I've claimed in this here review. And if I have to use it to my advantage, I will. I'll turn right around and reply to my own comment with screenshots of everything. You're not going try and make me look like some unprofessional jerk like you did with everyone else. I'm not new to this game.. This will be the last time I'm going to take precious time out of my day over your company..and I will be going through all my emails and texts, and sending you an email proving how my check is short, by the exact amount. And if you choose to argue what is right there in my emails and texts, I will be contacting the office of the Attorney General with all my documentation, or filing a small claims court case if I have to. The fact that my check is not only short, but by nearly $500, is dispicable.

Molly Sito Why does it seem...

AUTHOR: agb - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, January 09, 2016

Why does it seem like whenever your name pops up with an agency, their standard goes down? There were problems, in the past, with Advantage Sales and Marketing and various other agencies you have worked for. It is always the blame game of you should have received your payment. Why not just quit your job as working for any agencies? This is not the first ripoff report I have seen with complains against an agency you work for. Whatever you touch turns to garbage. Seriously!

Document Tampering

AUTHOR: Molly Sito - ()

POSTED: Monday, August 11, 2014

Shannon White, you signed a written agreement (which we have on file with our lawyers) agreeing to a contract which you clearly have broken and attempted to tamper with evidence to avoid being charged the agreed upon cancellation fee as an independent contractor, while maintaining possession of client assets valuing over $300 dollars. We have proof and documentation that you falsified an emailed schedule, and a written contract that YOU signed proving our case.  You then publicly slander our company while we possess the physical evidence to prove otherwise. We did not withold your earnings without just cause. We simply charged you the agreed upon cancellation fee, as you DID cancel an event, and court ordered you to return the client assets to us before we release any future payments.

You Cashed Your Check!

AUTHOR: Molly Sito - ()

POSTED: Monday, August 11, 2014

Nancy Dayton, our bank statement shows that the missing payment that you reference in this complaint was cashed by you on July 11th, the very next day. We provided your check number and let you know multiple times that your check WAS in the mail; however, it was mailed out over the Holiday and was likely delayed as a result. Once in the hands of the US Postal system, we have no control.  You selected physical mail over direct deposit, which you would have received a week prior.  What you did not mention in this report, is that the payment was for an event that you did not even work. You were sent to another store to execute and you were paid in-in full for both events.  There is no fraud associated with Best Reps, only fair practice.

how about a group lawsuit?

AUTHOR: reytech - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 15, 2014

I too have had problems with this company! I was told if I couldn't work a dare, to give at least 24 hours notice to find replacement. I had a family member go into the hospital and requested someone else be found so I could be with them. I was told I had to find someone or I had to work. I couldn't find anyone so I had to work with a family member in the emergency room! Then I was sent an email with my work dates on it. I was sent an email after I worked my 5 shifts saying I still had 1 more sure, which I did not. After emails back and forth, they began sending emails from their lawyers saying the copy if that email I sent them I had tampered with and I could be sued for!

I copied and pasted it from their email! I told them I hadn't even been paid for the last work done. Now they claim they get to hold the money they claimed they had already sent me because I breached my contract for not working that last date. They get to hold the money until I send back the product. I told them that was NOT in my contract and I will be looking into getting a lawyer. They are such a scam and I want the word spread about them so no one else gets scammed. I also told them I think the company I rep'd should know about their activities. They threatened to take me to court. I am in if we can find the other people scammed to file a group lawsuit against this company. Let me know!
