Caveat Emptor - We had a terrible experience with Outdoor Power Equipment.
We paid considerably above the going private sale and auction prices for our tractor. I did this because there are no dealers near where we live and I wanted a machine that was in very good condition. Bill Pride guaranteed us that it was: 1) single owner, 2) stored inside, and 3) in very good mechanical condition. He also committed to cover any costs if the machine arrived with any significant problems.
The day it arrived, our local mechanic thought the engine sounded bad. However, Bill assured us this was typical of this model.
But when we went to do regular maintenance we found that all the mechanicals in the engine compartment were corroded. We couldn’t even get the filters off.
We were forced to have the machine transported to a regional dealer for maintenance. As soon as they heard the engine they informed us that something was really wrong. They also found that the corrosion was so bad that some of the loader pins had to be drilled out. The only reason that the loader went up and down was that some of the frozen pins had actually cracked, as had the stabilizer bar.
We arranged for an expert from Deere to examine the tractor and he confirmed that the engine was likely no good. Mud and corrosion up under the bonnet even suggested the machine might have been a flood salvage.
As of this review, we seem to be stuck with a bad engine and a bunch of costly repairs.
And the WORST THING about Outdoor Power was that Mr. Pride kept telling me - over almost 6 months - that he was going to make good on his commitment, BUT HE NEVER DID.
UPDATE:
As I expected, in the end Mr. Pride refused to honor any of the commitments he made.
At this point I have been determined that our “single owner, stored inside machine” was:
- Purchased by Outdoor from a Massey dealer.
- Purchased by Massey from “another dealer”
- Purchased by that dealer from “another dealer”
- Purchased by that dealer from “Landscape Snow Removal Company” who Mr. Pride claims purchased it new…
- But neither the loader nor backhoe buckets are the kind a snow removal company would order, so I have my doubts…

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
Completely and Unbelievably Untrue
AUTHOR: Bill - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, March 12, 2016
We are going to rebutt Norman Paradis complaint and untruths point by point.
He actually paid less for the machine than average retail pricing at that time. This was made known to Norman Paradis with a printed list of John deere 110's for sale around the country.
The machine actually came to us from a Massey Ferguson dealer and we made Norman Paradis aware that it was previously owned by a landscape company, and in our opinion was used in a snow removal application.
We arrived at this opinion because of corrision on the loader, loader pins and front portion of the machine. We made Mr. Paradis aware of this before his purchase.
Mr. Paradis came to our location on 8-26-13 inspected the machine where it was stored, inside our facility, ran the machine and was shown the corrision and was explained to, how we would address the issues and the estimated cost. We also stated to Mr. Paradis that "This machine may not be for you"
Mr. Paradis elected to purchase the machine that day as is! The machine was shipped to Mr. Paradis the following week and arrived in the exact same condition that Norman Paradis inspected it in the previous week!
After owning the machine for about a month Mr. Paradis said his neighbor thought the engine sounded funny. We advised Mr. Paradis to take it to a dealer and have it checked. Mr. Paradis, we where told, took it to a Kubota dealer and from there inspection of the engine found no engine smoke and compression good in all cylinders.
After approximately 4-6 months and approximately 100 or so engine hours Mr. Paradis wanted to return the machine. We explained to Mr. Paradis that we didn't know where the machine has been and what he could of done to it!
After explaing our position to Norman Paradis he than asked for 4000.00 or he was going to post negative comments about me personally and our company. Hmmmm! Was this the intent all along
Outdoor Power Equipment, Inc. since 2002 has sold between 2000-3000 pieces of equipment and continues to do so today! We do the best we can to obtain equipment that we would own personally.
