We attended the Home Show in Duluth ,MN and were approached by the Bluegreen team who were selling "discounted" vacations to Wisconsin Dells. We have been wanting to take our children there and just relocating from Denver back to Minnesota figured it would be the prime opportunity. This was in March and we didn't schedule the vacation right away as we were still settling in. We recently lost our home in the flooding in the Duluth area and we needed a break, so I called to book our trip. Now I was well aware you must attend a 2 hour tour of Bluegreen's timeshare once in the Dells, no problem. However, when I called to reserve our rooms, they said they'd be putting us up in basically an economy motel!!! Checking online, I could've booked this same motel cheaper myself. I complained that when we signed up for the deal, we were told we'd be staying at the Mount Olympis Resort and would be given all kinds of free passes. I had the paperwork in front of me. I spoke to a supervisor and was told that for some reason, this was not the case and to stay at Mt. Olympus, I'd have to pay an additional $160.00 upgrade fee, plus Mt. Olympis' $12.00 per day fee for parking/towels! I was hot, but paid the fee and was told we'd be receiving our hotel tickets/passes in the mail. Today, I received a letter stating we couldn't go directly to the hotel, that we had to report to the Bluegreen office in the Dells upon arrival to be assigned our reservations. Then she informed me that the "tour" we had to take for Bluegreen was not a half hour, but 2+ hours and it wasn't upon arrival, but on Saturday afternoon, smack dab in the center of our vacation weekend! She said if we were late for the tour, left the tour early, or skipped it all together, they'd charge us full room prices on top of what we already paid plus "other fees". This is one big scam. After further investigation, the whole company is known for deceptive marketing. It's total B.S. that they can get away preying on people like this. Looking online, for what I've already paid Bluegreen, I could've took my family to the Dells, received twice as many attraction passes, paid for gas, food, and then some! I'm usually not one to fall for this, so everyone beware! I even tried to cancel and get at least a partial refund...nope...you have 30 days after initial purchase. Even then, looking at online complaints, they still don't give money back! My main job is to bring these people down now!
