I was contracted to write business plans for Bplanning in 2012, and struggled with my relationship with them from the start. They claim to pay each week a report is submitted, but actually wait 3 weeks to pay. That way, when a consultant decides to quit working, Leonard (the owner) can claim the consultant "breached" his/her contract is no longer entitled to pay, which be a significant amount of money. I have lost out on well over $1,000 in fees at this point for work that was already completed and delivered to clients.

Additionally, they are very "gray" with their clients, collecting 1/2 up front and the 1/2 balance at the point of the first draft... rather than the final product. However, they do not pay the consultant until the client has approved the final plan, which can go on for the better part of an entire month. While Bplanning collects their fees quit early in the process, the writer is stuck with endless edits and a significant amount of hours invested before Bplanning will finally agree to pay the balance. It's a complete scam and the company is very dishonest in what it promises and delivers. It's not worth the $400 to $600 per-plan paid. You're better off with a $10/hour job at McDonalds.

Update on Leonard Woods/Bplanning

AUTHOR: Charles - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, July 29, 2012

After 60-days of having stopped my work with Leonard Woods / Bplanning, the firm has resulted to insults and demeaning responses in my requests for an audit of my work and settlement of the balance of fees owed. Through 6-months I successfully authored 24 business plans for them, so I was heavily engaged with Bplanning. My total loss is nearly $2,000. Leonard and his wife, Kristen, are far from professional in the way they treat contractors, and this certainly is felt by many of their clients. However, the loss is not enough to file and fight a lawsuit against them from 1,200 miles away. This is a carefully planned strategy they have, where they simply delay payments for weeks at a time, look for desperate ways to claim "breach", and then refuse to pay the balance owed.
