I would go into how horrible the move went even with the owner working, but given all that I have found out about the owner and his illegal moving company, I find it is more important to expose this fraudulent company and its criminal owner for what it is. so let me begin......

Budget movers in Palm Harbor Florida is not only an illegal moving company that is not licensed or insured. The owner Anthony J. Magazu a.k.a Tony Magazu is a recently released convicted felon with a record for multiple counts of possession of crack cocaine, and dealing in stolen property which probably came from the customer homes he moved. His record is much longer but I will get to that shortly

There is a legal "budget movers" but it is located in sarasota not in palm harbor. The estimate given to me showed a license number that came up expired and the moving company name was a different name altogether. When asked where his office is located the owner said he does not have an office he works from home. That would be all well and good except I found out later that in Florida all moving companies are required to have an office.

Now back to the owners criminal record. Under Anthony j Magazu a.k.a Tony magazu you will find a criminal record that spans from New York to Florida. but since his record is to extensive to go into and all I am dealing with is Florida, I am placing a link to the criminal records site which shows his Florida record more in detail. (copy link below and paste in address bar) http://mugshots.com/search.html?q=Anthony%20J%20Magazu

My advice to anyone looking for a moving company. Do not use this company unless you do not care about your family or your personal information. One of his own workers who I happened to talk to at a store weeks later said he had to quit because of some of the things the owner was saying about young woman and some of the things he was asking him to do on the moves. This was horrifying to me especially given he is around peoples families all the time.

I did try and ask the ex-worker about what type of things but the worker did not want to come out and say anything specific. He did say that the owner Anthony J Magazu has been recently opening up a lot of new credit cards which should not be possible. I asked, ''what does that mean" and he said for me to take a guess.

Although this is a huge concern, since I have no real evidence for the criminal acts I can only caution those to not use him because he is not licensed or insured in the state of florida to provide moving services. This you can look up yourself at (www.800helpfla.com) click on (business/complaint lookup) then type in his info. You will see that no info will match up.

I have tried to notify the proper authorities about him and his company but there is not much they can do because they need a specific address to nab an unlicensed moving company. I know that sounds crazy but thats what the department of agriculture and consumer services said. I guess that is why there is so many of these illegal moving companies around Florida. All you have to do is not have an address. Can they make it any easier.

My advice is to not use this company at all. In fact if you know of anyone moving in the palm harbor area warn them about this company. Also, do your homework before booking with any moving company. Don't believe any company when they say they are licensed and insured. Check it yourself. Also look up the owners name. Make sure the people coming into your home are good people not drug addicts or convicted criminals who have just been released.

Budget Movers Palm Harbor"

AUTHOR: BB BABA - ()

POSTED: Thursday, January 15, 2015

Unlike the person who wrote the Ripoff Report, I will use my name. I am Barbara Neiger and we used Tony and Budget Movers when we moved from Palm Harbor to The Villages in May 2012. Tony came to give us his price...a FIRM price, not an estimate...and explained all the procedures to us as I was also having him do all the packing too.

When the time for the move came, he arrived at the appointed time and he worked quickly and efficiently along with one other guy. They completely wrapped every piece of furniture and large wall prints, mirrors and such and did a great job of box-packing. They left us with our bed in tact for sleeping and then returned the next morning to load the truck.

He slightly underestimated the amount of space needed for all our stuff and had the other guy go get a small add-on trailor for the remaining items. He did this at HIS expense as he had given us a firm number for moving and said it was his mistake.

At The Villages they unloaded everything quickly and efficiently. I had NOT ONE broken or missing item. If i have any complaint at all...maybe I found him to be a little arrogant. There was a little dispute about the directions on how to find our new house...he was sure it was my fault and had given him wrong information, which I hadn't! But he was just being a typical guy. I know this because I am married and have had similar "disputes" with my husband! (And I'm ALWAYS right!)

Last March we had to move back to Palm Harbor because of my husband's failing health and I needed to get back to the "good doctors" which we had had previously. Now, we are preparing to move out of state to be closer to family. While we will be using a rental truck I need Tony to help us pack up and load and now I can't find him.

I don't care if a person has an office. Why does a mover need an office anyway? They pay more overhead and charge more to make up for it. I didn't verify any arrest record so I don't know if he does or doesn't. Does it REALLY matter if someone has an arrest record if they have done their time and "paid their debt to society?" Are they never supposed to be able to work again? That's a pretty arrogant and "holier than thou" attitude!

And anyone who submits an anonymous report AND offers 2nd hand information from a disgruntled employee should, in my opinion, pretty much be disregarded.

And just because a company is licensed/bonded/whatever and has an office, it doesn't mean you're going to get good service. When we moved back to Palm Harbor I hired a quite well-known moving company from this area...with all those good credentials and a couple offices. AND I am out approximately $2,000 from unpacked kitchen items that were stolen out of our empty house before we got back up to close...their estimate was a joke both in time and dollars. I haven't written it yet but I WILL be writing a Ripoff Report on Big Boys Moving Company after nearly a year of trying to get some restitution with zero results. I'll take Tony and his efficiency (and arrogance!) and firm price quote and no mumbo-jumbo contract any day over what I went through with Big Boys.

Barbara Neiger

Ripoff Report sets the record straight!  All users of Ripoff Report have an opportunity to tell their side of the story! Do your research!

AUTHOR: Anthony J Magazu - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Ripoff Report has responded to this Rebuttal as it pertains to Ripoff Report.  Please consider reading all commentary, including ours,  so you have the opportunity to hear everyone’s side of the story.

My name is Anthony J magazu there's an ex employee that I fired because he was on drugs and so to get even with me he went ahead and filed this false report. The entire report is false and Ripoff Report won't remove it. There's no one to substantiate the report and report was filed by an anonymous person. if a company such as Ripoff Report is going to file false claims or claims that can cause a company to close down they should at least have a sources name and address posted up there a telephone number that you can get in touch with so this rebuttal is not only directed at the person who lied about me but it's also directed at Ripoff Report

EDITOR’S NOTE:  Ripoff Report strongly believes in the First Amendment, even when it is about us.  We understand that people who have complaints written about them are upset and want to place blame somewhere, especially if they feel the content of the Reports are false.  We also understand that individuals want to blame our website rather than where it belongs – on the person who wrote the Reports in the first place.  Using the same method that we provide free of charge to all of our users, we would like to “set the record straight” as to the comments posted about our website through this Rebuttal.

Every user of our website has the opportunity to tell their side of the story, for free, just as we will do here.  We certainly encourage users to “set the record straight” and tell their side of the story by using the free methods available to them before they consider other paid Ripoff Report programs (such as our VIP Arbitration Program or the Corporate Advocacy Program) or alterative avenues (such as filing a lawsuit against the Author of the report) that cost money.  After all, all we know is that users of our site affirm, before posting a Report, that the information is truthful and accurate and the user acknowledges that the information will become a permanent record.  This is why we allow Reports, Comments, Rebuttals and Updates, for free, by anyone (including the person/company posted about) who has information to share about the situation.  This includes the ability to upload documents that support the position that is being advanced.  By doing so, all sides of the story are able to be heard so other users of the site can make an educated decision about the situation for themselves. We encourage people to stick to the facts and write calmly worded accounts of the situation.

It is clear that the author of the above Rebuttal is upset about the content that the original Report Author wrote about them and seemingly wants to blame Ripoff Report for providing a forum where people can come and openly comment about their experiences.  Again, we encourage people to stick to the facts and write calmly worded accounts of the situation.  Further, it’s absurd to propose that Ripoff Report, which is an open and interactive website, should not be available for people to make comments without fact checking every single statement of fact posted.  With that kind of rationale, one could kiss the internet goodbye.  Do you think that Facebook or Twitter or any other mainstream interactive websites, including news blogs, would exist if you told the users that no one could post any comments about anyone, or anything without first fact checking everyone’s comments?  Of course not!  To require such action would be to stifle the freedom of speech and the free exchange of information and ideas.  Ripoff Report is “for consumers, by consumers” and, in fact, our Terms of Service say, at paragraph 3, “Opinions, advice, statements, offers or other information or content made available through ROR are those of their respective authors and not of [Ripoff Report] and should not necessarily be relied upon.  Such authors are solely responsible for the accuracy of such content.  [Ripoff Report] does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information on ROR and neither adopts nor endorses nor is responsible for the accuracy or reliability of any opinion, advice or statement made.”  Ripoff Report does not hold out that any information posted by users of the website is accurate or necessarily reliable.  We encourage people to conduct thorough research, through more than one forum/medium, before making final decisions about an particular individual or business.  After all, no business can please 100% of their customers 100% of the time.  Sometimes there are miscommunications.  Sometimes a business’s staff member is having a bad day.  Sometimes the customer is having a bad day.  Warranted or not…all businesses get complaints.  We believe it’s how businesses take care of the complaints that separates good businesses from the rest.

The above Rebuttal author had the opportunity to write a calmly worded Rebuttal to explain their position regarding the Report at issue.  They did so, in part – but then chose to lash out at Ripoff Report for merely offering an open forum for free speech and not posting contact information of posters up front.  Well, to do so would necessarily defy free speech and the right to remain anonymous and potentially subject  victims to bullying and harassment or other retaliation by the individual or business that was complained about.  As you can see, Ripoff Report itself falls prey to critics…even on our own website and other places on the internet..  Again, DO YOUR RESEARCH before assuming that everything you read on the internet is true.  SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT:  Those who use the site affirm, before posting, that the information is truthful and accurate.  The author is the one who assumes liability for posting information, if, in fact, what they say is false.  If the information posted about and individual and/or business is false, there may be legal remedies available.  Such inquiries should be submit to local counsel for advisement on options.

Consumers – if a business reaches out to you to try and resolve a problem, whether it be through postings on our website or other avenues, we encourage you to work with the business and work through the situation with fairness in mind.  Sometimes a resolution just cannot be reached and each party is entitled to his/her opinion about the situation.  We don’t condone businesses trying to take advantage of consumers – that’s why our website was started in the first place.  At the same time, we don’t condone consumers, other business competitors, or disgruntled ex-employees or partners trying to take advantage of businesses either.  To all parties:  Keep it calm.  Keep it honest.  Keep it fair. Do your research.  Don’t be the kid that gets caught copying test answers from your neighbor who actually has the worst grades in class.  Make appropriate educated decisions based on the most reliable, up to date and current information available.

We thank you for taking the time to read this Rebuttal and allowing us to “set the record straight.”
