California Mud Motors is a sham. The "owner" buys a motor from harbor freight and a longtail kit (SPS) from Florida. You then have to wait months for him to figure out how to put it together; all the while hearing excuses as to why the motor is not ready. Comical excuses; the supplier was bit by a spider....the carrier is lost....I have to go s****.> Once the motor is "put together" you will probably have to go pick it up. Do not be too excited. You will have to check the entire build or even re-build it yourself to ensure a working motor.

My motor came "brand new" with a broken air filter (someone had "fixed with epoxy and tried to hide it) the mount was not tightened so I lost bolts day one, the shaft was not seated right so the prop would not work and the throttle level set up wrong. The motor only mad it 100 yards down the channel. All that for around $700 dollars; A RIP OFF.

To make matter worse the "customer service" was HORRIBLE. The owner wants to blame you, the customer even though it was clearly a manufacturer and "mechanic" problem. The owner takes no responsibility for being grossly late or incompetent. He is willing to replace a defective piece "at cost" for you though...

I had to enlist a real mechanic to rebuild the longtail. It is too late to hunt, everything froze...would have been nice to have received the motor on time and in working order.

Hunters beware; this motor and company are a joke. Save your money and look elsewhere.
