Be extremely cautious of your disbursed loan "requested" money from
Capella University financial aid office!!!!  Billing amount is different the requested amount on NSLDS web site.

I completed an undergraduate degree and took a few graduate classes. Almost each quarter
Capella took out more money than my total tuition cost and NEVER returned the
correct amount. I can't stress how betrayed I feel by what Capella did. I tried
to work it out. In fact, the Capella financial aid office didn't even have the
correct academic classes with the appropriate quarter for the courses taken.
This is in 2013.

They still will not return unused loan money. Example. I took
a graduate class that cost 1,540. Capella requested loan money on my behalf for
the loan year. Now I am paying for 5800 for 1 class took for the 1 loan period year.

I was pleased with the quality of help with the professors, but be extra extra
cautious with your loan money. Don't rely on the bill you get online or in the
mail. This is not correct. Monitor behind the scenes what the total amount
Capella requests for you from the lender (monitor your loans on the NSLDS web
site). I found some very unethical practices going on from the Capella
financial aid offices and the director refuses to return my unused money as of
2/11/2013 from years 2004-2007.

As a christian, I am extremely disappointed in Capella's unethical practices. They don't practice what they preach as far as quality. Student account records again don't match my transcript. I notified
the Regional Board of Education, and MN BBB and to date I guess not returning
unused student loan money or not keeping accurate records is acceptable.

Be aware that Capella will treat you like you are a customer and they are a money
making business. There is no academic ethics being practiced here when it comes
to financial aid. And associations supporting them will just simply let it
happen. Please feel free to contact me to provided you with real factual
evidence to backup what I am stating.

The purpose of writing this complaint is not in anger,
but in hopes that current and future students will be more active and monitor
what Capella does with student loan money "behind the scenes."

I simply want to educate students about what is truly going on based on real
factual data.

Be a constant and active student in monitoring what the "requested loan amount" is being asked by Capella on your behalf to lenders. Don't be assured that the bill is correct. Get online NSLDS and view what the requested amount was to your lender. You will have to pay for unused money that Capella doesn't return.
