I want report a company named City Trading & Investment. My opinion I received poor service and absolutely misleading information on their website and the PDF files they sent to introduce me to the program I signed up for, their Three Month Trading & Portfolio Management course in the prestigious Canary Wharf location, for which I paid £2700.

The brochures show that from week nine, trainees will be provided with company funds and could experience commission based live trading, with those that complete the course with a flat or better live account being offered a job with CTI. This is the main reason I signed, and I believe why most people would want to sign in with CTI.  The schedule tells you that you will have lots of seminars and lectures at set times, which gives you a big confidence actually receiving physical teaching in a structured manner, finishing your programme in 3 months and successfully getting your certificate in Trading & Portfolio Management.

My experience started badly, contacting CTI by the phone number provided and getting a response that someone will get back to me asap. It took me a week of call backs before I must emailed and finally getting an email back from “Head of Trading” in CTI. He told me that all the information will be sent to me by the end of the day on the courses they provide, it took another 5 days of chasing. I read the PDF emailed to me with programme information and paid the required money. Arriving early on the first day I was expecting to be picked up from the lobby on time, rather than 30 min late after chasing with the receptionist.

I was taken to a small room which has no windows, where all of the trainees spent the entire course. Staying in there from 9:00 to 18:00 was very uncomfortable, where 8 to 10 people were not allowed to open a door for fresh air.

The first week was started, we was told teaching will be done via hotcomm (instant messaging chatroom) and if there is a difficulties then you could ask their Analyst (“Personal Mentor”) to come in to the room to help. Sometimes it took 5 min, other times took hours if not days to get questions answered.

Our concern about not having a physical teaching was explained that first few weeks we must get familiar with the generic, free, trading software. We have had an interview with Head of Trading and I never saw him again. The “course” was really material provided via emails and report requests. I tried to chase CTI for days to provide me with materials as I heard from others that they already have it. They just told me that everyone is on the different timing and Head of Trading will be emailing me. I have received few emails.

Daily we was supplied with latest financial market reports and had to do trading on our own using fundamentals. The course was to include trading S&P mini 500 and Euro/USD, though it was not clear they meant only Futures.

I left during week 8, the live account being available only if your “demo” account was positive for 4 weeks, which then changed to being positive each week for 4 weeks. Interestingly they asked us to turn off demo mode on the week 4 . I was told I will be given additional time free of charge, as was everyone else on the course, as no-one who started with me had achieved the “required level”. There was also a whole week when we was not receiving any “teaching” as the CTI Analyse was out for holiday but the general manager was popping in daily for short chat on how we doing. Any question on what was next on Trading & Portfolio Management, we was told the Head of Trade will follow up with us, we were waiting for another week to see him, and then told that he is delaying his visit for another week. This is when I said enough is enough. Absolutely ridiculous, after losing 2 month of my time already and being behind to my opinion with an unprofessional service, I could not stay longer to be able to get what I was promised.

I told CTI my concerns and asked them refund my money as I have no intention waste more of my time with such a service. My complaint was taken and followed up with email stating that there is no refund of my money, I was not even offered for the remaining 4 weeks of the course, as I terminated “voluntarily”.

CTI not registered with FCA I found that out later, which is not very professional to my oppinion.. I have lost not just money I have paid but most importantly my time! My opinion they just created impossible for trainees to succeed, why would they do that still left an open question!

Mr. Callum Watt services

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Monday, November 21, 2016

Mr Callum Watt, the poor service you provided me which lead to my previous complaints has prompted responses which I now want to share. I was contacted by others who were attending your services a few month after I filed my complant and they confirmed my allegations. Your reply to my complaint shocked them more than I.

The information I recieved from them was that you actually only provided one member of the training team with a live account and that was to a member who had been with the team the longest (around 6 months without getting paid). The member was delighted to have been given the chance, at last, to experience a live account. Some of the team were very surprised and felt this was as a result of my complaints.

Unfortunetly it didnt last long, and after two days when all the members of the team including the market analyst who provided the training, arrived at the office early morning as usual to find the office empty (no computers, desks, chairs, etc) and Mr Callum Watt had dissappeared into thin air. The happy member with the sole live account discovered his account had been blocked. What a mess! The market analyst, who was on a salary, admitted that he hadn't been paid for the previous few months. All those people weren't able to make any contact with Mr Watt or obtain any information.

For all those readers contemplating this type of training, if the FCA were to regulate this market he wouldnt be able to operate. Mr Callum Watt can run but can't hide by changing his company names, moving offices etc, he could change his name but that wouldn't be easily done. I hope when people hear his name they will be aware of his reputation.

Thank you for reading and thanks to RippOff for the opportunity to share people's experiences helping others avoid making the same mistake.

My opinion still stands-City Trading & Investment is a scam!

AUTHOR: Kamalia - ()

POSTED: Monday, October 06, 2014

Dear Mr. Watt! The readers can simply justify and sentence the manner you have chosen to talk to someone who got abused by poor service you provide. The letter you attached will prove along, all your lies included! The very unprofessional way to deal with people.  The way you treat people, who gives you their time and highly costs involved, plus their dreams succeed, unforgivable!

Dear Readers! Mr.Watt clearly stated that I show poor performance with CTI, he never mentioned and in fact kept quite that on my last visit, I wanted to prove to trainees and CTI that I have had good knowledge and skills before I picked up on them. The reason is why I have same as most of trainees does, trying get job CTI promise on their website, other lies! Why would I want to performance good or show CTI best of my knowledge and skills, when on second week I started realise that the company is a scam! Mr.Watt didn’t like my concern and my opinion I spoke loud! He tried to tell me that I being negative person and distractive to others trainees. That I must believe and carry on taking the education CTI provides, my opinion still is very poor, Google this days can do better free of charge. My last visit to CTI to meet with Mr.Watt I had to wait for more than one hour for my appointment (usual for Mr.Watt and CTI as whole), while I waited I were with rest of trainees at that little room (which has no one window, not to catch a fresh air, not able see the day light!), I told to trainees that I will trade good my last time before I go, to show that is possible if you have right knowledge and passion! One hour before Mr.Watt arrived, I close trade CDF with 1.300$ profit! Tell me if there is someone who is study how to trade or poor performance as Mr.Watt stated I were, can get 1.300$ in such a short time! I took the evidence of my trade, told trainees goodbye and went to summarised all of my complaints to Mr.Watt. The rest of the story know by now. I want to tell you something Mr.Watt, you can change the company name, location of your office but you can’t change your personality! There are smart people around and they find out who you are I rather sooner than later. This isn’t way to succeed, taking people dreams away from them. How many trainees comes to you to discover a new world of trading! You taking their passion and dreams about trading, along with their time and money. I couldn’t imagine how disappointing trainees would be after I go, I knew sooner than later they have to face the true!Mr.Watt, one old say saying ‘’you could try flying high but don’t you forget, than higher is you flying, more painful you will landing.’’ I am talking to trainees who left CTI after me, took them little while realise the true. I spoke to some who is still with you, they all saying that nobody got chance experience a live trading still, you said in your emails before people signing in, that on week nine regardless of trainees performance, they all will experience trade live accounts! Then rules has changed, trainees trying their hardest for three, four, five and more months and the result the same, no trading a live accounts, not ready! Trainees never knew or heard of anyone who actually ever traded with CTI. My last word and opinion I want tell to Mr. Watt. My own experience since I started live treading since 2009, after two years of study financial market private, proves that you need being around professional traders to be able understanding the best of it. How can you teaching people how to trade, hiring employee at your company as Analyst and have him teach trainees! No professional traders to monitoring!!! Is there is chance that anybody can succeed.

Dear Readers, I have nothing to gain from my bad experience with this people and company, apart I hope I could prevent you from getting in to trouble like I have myself. Mistake, I recently moved to London and spend no time on research. I wouldn’t speak to you now if I have but me happy to share my opinion and story with you. I hope it helps you with making your right decisions, it can change your life.

My best wishes to all of you and good luck with having a professional people around, they are up there!

Rebuttal To Kamalia Mullholland False Claims Against City Trading & Investment

AUTHOR: Callum Watt - ()

POSTED: Monday, October 06, 2014

Unfortunately in the modern day websites such as this one afford those who seek to unjustly damage an honest company a platform to do so. For sure, there are situations where that is not the case however in this instance that is absolutely 110% the case. Let us quickly cover off the main points in this absurd fabrication of the truth.

  1. Live funds: Kamalia chose to voluntarily leave her programme in week 8. At that stage Kamalia had performed poorly and all that we can assume is that she felt there was no way to move onto live funds from week 9. That seemed a rather odd decision as we had not discussed the matter as yet, and in reality she had a full 4 weeks left to rectify the situation. From Kamalia’s group 40% of trainees have been offered trading accounts using company funds. Ironically that 40% have performed well and had an attitude aligned with what it would require to perform well.  These things tend to correlate particularly strongly.
  2. FCA: The FCA do not regulate Trading & Portfolio Management training programmes, just like they do not regulate CFA training or a Masters in Quantitative finance at any major UK University. So really it is not actually possible to be regulated here!! If it were naturally we would jump on that. You cannot be regulated for something that is not regulated!
  3. To cover all other points we simply attach a letter. The letter is our response to Kamalia’s complaint/concerns at the point she raised them. A comprehensive and thorough investigation was undertaken into Kamalia’s complaint. A reply was issued within a matter of days contrary to what this post claims. We believe that you can judge for yourself based on the content of this response the merits of the defamatory and untrue claims stated in this post.
