This is a public site therefore once you post a report you are subjected to comments regardless if you like them or no.  Don't like it?? Don't file a report! I agree with good 100% percent. Sue this so called "College" you went to for failing to teach you proper grammar skills.  BTW are you related to Charles in Alabama? You both seem to have a sense of entitlement.

I still can't get over the fact that this person claims to be in college when she writes at a 3rd or 4th grade level.  I think I'm sticking with my original guess that it's a dog grooming college.

It certainly explains why she cannot understand the basic difference between legal and contractual insurance requirements.

A point to make

AUTHOR: Dave - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 03, 2011

I had made a few post on this topic and have done my best to provide information on state insurance vs loan insurance requirements.  If the OP want's to consider what I wrote fine if not that's OK too as it is their choice to do so.

The topic has gotten completely off track as many of the post do here.  When I post comments I try to present factual information that will help the consumer or help them understand where they may be mistaken.

The point I want to make is when these topics go into education, spelling, or lack of attack mode it benefits no one.   It might be possible that it is not a lack of education but perhaps some sort of disability that limits a persons ability to spell correctly or create better sentence structure.  It could also be the person may have come to this country (legally) and have not yet mastered english.

Just some thoughts to consider for future post.

Debbie, I'm on your side, I think you should sue!!

AUTHOR: IamGood - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 03, 2011

Debbie, I am on your side.  I think you should sue!!!!
You have been injured severely!!!

The college you are attending has not done their job at all.  You have no spelling skills, no grammer skills, and your communication skills are 3rd grade level.  (And I am being Nice).

But this is not your fault, the College you are attending should not have admitted someone like you.

You should go back home, and find an attorney fast, and sue the College you are attending.

As far as your car is concerned, you should also sue the department of safety for giving you a driver's licence.  I am surprised you were able to take the written test.

I have seen some dumb people in my time, but your post proves that sometimes the bottom of the barrell can be scraped, and that my dear is YOU!!!!

DUMB a*s!!!

Opening another can of worms

AUTHOR: Dave - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 05, 2011

I and others tried to explian the difference between law requirements and loan requirements for insurance but that did not go well.  But I thought I would ask and also try to educate again.

I know when it comes to vehicle titles some states do things a bit differently.  Here in wisconsin when you purchase a vehicle you will get the title even if there is a loan against it.  However if you look on the title it will list the lien holder.  So actually holding the title in your hand doesn't mean you own it free and clear.

In your original post you stated  "i , have been on time paying our payment, they have  decide to tell us ,if we do not have the cash to pay our payment they will repo it"  You also stated "we will never go back to that car lot at all when we get this car paid"   So it seems there is still a balance owed on the vehicle.

I would suggest again that you purchase full coverage insurance on your own.  If not the lender will probably purchase it which will increase your monthly payment.   You also need to continue to make your monthly payment whether the vehicle runs or not.

I think this is about all the help I can give on this one.

"ONE WE LIVE IN MISSOURI I HAVE A FAMILY MEMEBER WHO SAID THE SAME d**n THING THE LAW SAID, IF HAVE A USED CAR AND THEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

,"

Given that you have not picked up on the difference between the level of insurance required by the law vs. the level of insurance required in a loan contract, I think it's safe to assume that this "college" you attend is one of those glorified trade schools that have started to call themselves colleges these days.  I saw one the other day that offered a "degree" in pet grooming in only 6 easy months of "study".  Hahaha!

I'm sure no one here is going to convince you that every auto loan contract requires that you maintain full coverage insurance (even on a 10 yr. old car).    I have no doubt that if your husband is as ignorant about these issues as you are, that this will bite you in the a*s the next time you buy a car.

I know how to spell your home state. Even Mississippi doesn't have the letter s three times in a row.
"flordia" No debbie, that's Florida. "MISSUORI" Wrong again debbie.

The law probably does not require full coverage but it is a requirement of the finance company on a title loan. You posted that you have the title so apparently you do not have a title loan. I don't see any replies in which it was stated that full coverage is required by law. You need to learn to read or you'll be in college for another 30 years.

State required insurance vs lender required.

AUTHOR: Dave - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, July 04, 2011

States have minimum requirements for vehicle insurance.  Liabilty is the least that is required.   So you are not in violation of any laws in regards to insurance requirements. This is about as far as the law being on your side goes.

What you fail to understand is that a lender will require full coverage as long as the vehicle is not paid off and they hold the title.  The vehicle still belongs to the lender until the loan is paid in full.

Read your loan documents and I'm sure you'll find where it states that full coverage must be maintained.   Once again, if you do not get full coverage the lender will most likely force place it on the vehicle and your monthly payment will increase.

If you fail to make the loan payment or carry the proper insurance per the loan documents the lender will force place the insurance on the vehicle and/or start the repo process.

You don't understand...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 04, 2011
decide to tell us ,if we do not have the cash to pay our payment they will repo it or call the tenant company that is paying for our car to get it fixed and have the money to be sent to them,
-
They are correct.  It doesn't matter if the car is being repaired or not.  You are still responsible for making your payments.  This is what you made a LEGAL agreement to when you got the car loan.  Until the car is paid off you do not own the car, the finance company holds the title.  So if you don't pay it they can come and pick it up.  It doesn't matter if it is in the front of your house or the mechanic.

they will also force the customer to by a full coverage, even tho it is not a 2011 automobile or not, we have this one when we had to go to the police dept and file a accident report that all we need is a libility coverage,
- The police either told you wrong(less likely) or you just heard what you wanted to hear(more likely).  In just about every state I am aware of the minimum required coverage by LAW is liability, and most likely they were speaking from this angle.  However, when you finance a car ALL finance companies require you to maintain full coverage.  Yes it does protect them, but it also protects you.  Because if the car is in an accident and "totalled" you still owe the balance of the loan, whether or not you have the car or it is now scrap metal.  Liability only wouldn't cover you in this case, where with full coverage you would be covered.  However, even in this case if the insurance doesn't cover the full loan balance you will still owe the difference.

If you think other lenders will let you get away with liability only..think again.  Once they find out you don't have full coverage they will put what is known as "forced placed" insurance on your vehicle.  The cost of this insurance is so high that it could easily double your payments, and if you don't pay this they will then again come and repossess your car.

Your Mistaken

AUTHOR: Dave - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, July 04, 2011

When you financed the vehicle you are bound to the terms of the contract.  It doesn't matter if the car is running or not. If you fail to make the payment they can and do have the right to repo the vehicle.

Full coverage is required by all of the lenders I know when a vehicle is financed.  Full coverage is required to protect the lenders collateral which is the vehicle.  With just liability coverage if you were to total the vehicle how do you think the lender is guaranteed to get their money back.
Another thing to consider is even with full coverage is if the vehicle is totaled and the insurance payment is not enough to cover the balance of your loan you will be responsible for the difference.

If you do not have full coverage they will most likely do what is called Forced Placed insurance.  This is where they pay for the insurance on the vehicle which would be added to your monthly payment.

Forced place insurance is very expensive so I would suggest you purchase insurance on your own.

You are not exempt

AUTHOR: coast - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, July 04, 2011

You are not exempt from paying the car note while it's being repaired. Why would you think that you are? You are not exempt from carrying full insurance coverage just because it's not a 2011. The finance company needs to be assured that the car will be paid for if it is stolen or destroyed in an accident.
