In the summer of 2009, I ordered flowers online from Proflowers.  The flowers were ok, no problems, and I thought that was the end of it.

A couple of days ago, my husband was reviewing our credit card charges and came across a $14.95 charge from Easy Saver. He didn't know what it was so he called the dispute investigators at our bank. They verified that for every month for the past 13 months, we'd been charged $14.95 from Easy Saver. Unfortunately, my husband hadn't noticed it until this week. The bank investigator called Easy Saver and with someone named Stacy from their company on the phone, had a 3-way conversation with my husband. Stacy explained to my husband that his wife, me, had joined this club that cost $14.95 every month. My husband said, "She's right here, why don't you ask her about it?". I got on and this woman insisted I'd joined Easy Saver and she said she was very sorry that I was "confused", like I am some kind of idiot. I told her I remembered looking at an offer to save money that appeared online after I'd placed my flower order, but I closed it after I realized it was a monthly fee club. I told her I never gave her my credit card number or signed up for anything. After arguing with me for several minutes, she finally backed down when I mentioned the words "scam" and "stealing" with the bank investigator on the line. She generously offered to cancel my "membership". I told her I wanted the money back that she'd stolen from me. She agreed (I'm sure only because the bank credit card person was on the line) and as I write this, my account has been credited with $179.40 of the money they stole, and the other $14.95 is supposed to come in the mail. For some unknown reason, they could only credit one year's worth at a time.

I then called Proflowers and told them that they had given my credit card number to Easy Saver without my permission. The woman on the phone acted outraged and said they had become aware of this problem and as of December of 2009, Easy Saver had to have people "overtly" join their club, and this practice has been stopped. When I told her that Stacy at Easy Saver argued with me and acted like I was confused, the Proflowers woman acted even more outraged and promised to have someone from their company call me within 24 hours. That was two days ago and I've heard nothing. From what I've read online, it looks like Proflowers and Easy Saver are owned by the same company.

If you got ripped off, get your money bank by getting a fraud investigator at your bank to call Easy Saver and have them listen while you talk to them. They wouldn't refund my money until I used words like scam and mentioned fraud and the attorney general's office. Don't just let them pretend like they're doing you a favor by cancelling your nonexistent membership. Make them give you your money back. And don't do business with Proflowers, and tell them why you won't.
