This is to claim an unfair and deceptive practice by Germain Toyoto of Naples regarding the Warranty option I purchased with the vehicle. (Toyota Deal # 2611900.)

During the excessively rushed closing with the Business Manager, Adam Golden, I clearly stated I wanted the “Silver” Plan at $576, instead, I got the “Golden” Plan at $1,813. I trustfully signed my okay to it along with some dozen or so other documents without scrutiny -- naively assuming that what was said orally would be in the contract.

I mistakenly trusted Mr. Golden and Germain Toyota. Mr. Golden refuses to take my calls and the Sales Director, Jaime Amoroso, refused to make any correction stating that because I signed it, nothing could or would be done – except to give me a free oil change.

I demand a refund of the difference of $1,237.

Dispute Resolved

AUTHOR: William - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, December 31, 2013

The misunderstanding about the warranty has been satisfactorily resolved by Mr. Golden, who has kindly agreed to cancel the warranty and refund my money.

There are no further complaints and this matter is closed.

Thank you.

I agree, cancel the warranty

The prior rebuttal is absolutely right. Most warranties aren't worth the paper that they are written on these days (many exclusions, exceptions and hoops). You won't know how good or bad your warranty is without reading it carefully and researching the company that stands behind it. After all, what good is the warranty if the warranty company isn't around to fulfil its contractual agreement?

These warranties are high profit items for the dealership and high commission items for the F&I person so there is no way the finance guy did this by mistake. Cancel the warranty and get a refund for the whole thing. They can not force you to keep it. I bet if you look in your current contract that the language clearly indicates that it is an optional item. Take care of it right away so you don't get stuck. Thank you for your report.

You can cancel the warranty at any time. Simply go into the dealership and ask to speak with the General Manager and let him or her know what transpired. Let the General Manager know that you want to cancel the warranty. Get everything in writing. Do not trust what is said orally.

Make sure to contact the warranty company and let them know that you want to cancel and have them put it in writing that you will be receiving a refund. Do noy delay!

I believe that purchasing an extended warranty is a waste of money. Remember, all new vehicles come with a manufacturer's warranty. Make sure to do some research on the warranty company if it is not a Toyota extended warranty. If the company goes out of business, you are out of luck.

P.S. You can also give your Ripoff Report more impact if you upload a photo of your vehicle and a copy of the warranty that Mr. Golden tricked you into signing.

Good luck to you, and please keep us updated.
