Moving into a new community in Frisco, we realized we needed to choose a cable and Internet provider.  We called Direct TV and set up installation.  I asked if they provided internet service and was told they did not, but would transfer me to a company that could assist me.  I was transferred to HughesNet "high" speed internet customer service.

The lady I spoke with was nice and began telling me what a wonderful choice I had made in choosing HughesNet.  I asked her about the speed, length of contract, cancellation policy, installation, etc.  She said one of her professional installers would be out in two days to set up the equipment between 8-12 on that particular day.

I get a call around 10 am from a man saying he cannot find my house and wants to know my GPS coordinates.  WTH??  Does anyone actually know their GPS coordinates?  I told him I had no idea, but gave him turn-by-turn directions to get to my house.

He arrives 15 minutes later, pulls into my driveway and steps out of the truck.  He has a ponytail, braided, down to his waist.  His shirt is dirty and he did not have a full set of teeth.  Yes, I noticed this when he grinned at me and begin to tell me how he works seven days a week and doesn't have any time to service his truck.  I didn't ask for this information... he freely began to tell me what a hard worker he was.  In the back of his truck sat a very large woman who he introduced as his wife.  In the driver side sat another large female who he introduced as his cousin.  I guess this is a family business?  He also said he contracts for HughesNet and they work him to death seven days a week.  The reason I give these descriptions of the women will come later in my tirade!

They enter my house and I show them where I want the installation.  He asked if DirectTV had alread installed their equipment.  I told him they would not be there until the next day.  He said he was going to use the plug DirectTV would normally use because it would make it easier on him.  DirectTV would have to pull wire through the attic and it would be their problem.  I get another "toothless" grin and a wink from him.

While he is inside working with the wiring, the two women are setting up a ladder outside.  One of them is trying to climb the ladder and having difficulty because it is very hot outside and she seems exhausted.  She rests as she climbs each step while the other is holding the ladder steady.  Now I'm getting concerned someone is going to fall and I'll get sued!  These ladies are in no shape to be climbing ladders and installing anything on a roof!

He finally came outside and gets on the ladder to install the equipment.  A little while later, the women knock on my door and ask to step in.  They have a handheld device and begin scrolling through a website to show me the great internet service that is about to be mine!  WOOHOO!

They ask me to sign a tablet stating the installation was complete and proof that I saw the internet was working.

I then set up my computer.  Yes, I should have done this while they were there, but I trusted it was working.  My computer did show I had internet service!!  I typed my first "Google" search and waited..........and waited...................and WAITED!  Three minutes later a page begins to download.  Really??  This can't be for real!  So, I typed in another website and waited.  This time it only took two minutes for the download.  I call customer service at HughesNet and they requested I go to a certain website and they will walk me through the problem and help me speed things up!  I spent thirty minutes on the phone to be told there was a problem with my installation (apparently) and they would send a technician out.  I had taken the day off from work and asked what time I could expect them.  He said it would be 3-5 days to get someone else out!  I asked if he was going to pay for me to take the day off for the repair and he chuckled and said "no", but I would not be charged for the days I wasn't getting service.  Gee, how nice of you not to charge me for no service.

I told him that was not acceptable.  He said he would check with his supervisor and call me right back.  I made a cup of coffee and stepped out to my front yard to cool off because now I was pissed!  And, to my surprise I see a gigantic oil puddle on my driveway where the HughesNet truck was parked.  Oil all over my new driveway!!  HughesNet is now calling me back and I informed the guy of the oil slick let on my new driveway from the installer.  I asked him if HughesNet was going to come and clean this up and he said "no".  The installer obviously knew his truck leaked and should have parked in the street, but his lazy a*s decided to use my driveway.

The man tells me they cannot come out any sooner than 3-5 days and I told him to cancel my service and pick up their equipment.  He told me I would have to take the equipment down and mail it back to them.  Seriously?  I told him I could not physically take the dish down and he would have to pick it up.  He said there was a $100 charge.  I told him HughesNet would have to pay it and he said they would not pay it.  I would be charged $350 if I didn't return the equipment.  Later in the day, I found a construction worker in the neighborhood that offered to take it down for me.  I offered him $50, but he wouldn't take it!

Now I'm waiting for the return box HughesNet said they would send me for the return of the equipment. Stay away from this company!  Wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before I let them on my property.  Unprofessional, bad service and a RIP-OFF!
