I stored my belongings at this facility in June of 2010.  This is January 2016.  I have paid my bill religiously.  This unit contained business storage, including a $5,000 digital printer purchased in 2009.  Because of injuries sustained in an auto accident I have been off work for over a year, I was unable to pay my bill in December, 2015.  I emailed the company and asked for a 30-day extension indicating I would pay both the December and January bills at the same time.  That was approved on the condition that I pay a $20 late fee on the December bill.  When January came and I went online to pay the bill online, their system said I owed $206.

When I called the company to find out why the bill was so high, they started giving me a rundown of all the fees they were charging me.  Despite my agreement to simply pay a late fee, they were taking steps to take possession of the unit.  I reminded them of their agreement to pay only a $20 late fee.  By this time, my January payment was late while we were discussing the additional fees.  Another $20 late fee for January.  They agreed to waive two late fees, $20 for December and now $20 for January.  However, they claimed the amount owing after waiving those fees would be $156.

Then I received a bill in the mail stating I owed $186.  If that was the case, and they were deducting $40, I should owe $146 rather than $156.  Obviously this company cares nothing of best business practices which would dictate that if you have a customer who pays their bills for nearly six years, you might want to give them a little leeway.  Bottom line, I could not pay the extra fees and had to give them the belongings in my unit.  I think they wanted the unit back because it was a very large unit -- probably 10 X 10.

When I first rented it, being a senior citizen, the cost was $17/per month and later rose to $35.  This company was called Storage One and was recently acquired by Life Storage.  It is interesting because my case against the driver who hit me is just about to settle and the first thing on my agena was to finally have enough money to go to Nevada and get my belongings out of this storage facility.  I was deprived of the opportunity of saving my belongings.  If I were you, I would think twice before renting from these people.  Seems they will take any opportunity to acquire your possessions so they can be sold at auction for a big payday.
