I was visiting Palmyra, New York with my wife and her family to see the Book of Mormon Pageant. We were stopped by a Living Scriptures salesman and gave him a little time to hear him out.  We don't have any children yet but I remembered these videos when I was young and wanted something for my future children to watch.

We talked with this salesman from Odgen, UT and he told us that since money was tight he'd lower the prices of the DVD's.  Having a few years of direct sales experience myself I knew that I needed to find out if there was a contract.  I asked him a direct question about a contract and if I don't want it in a month if I can cancel. He looked me in the eyes and told me there is no contract and I can cancel whenever I want.  He said that if I do then I'll have to either return the free items or pay the difference for those free items prorated to how long I had been with them. I agreed and signed his paperwork.

It wasn't until I got back from my vacation that I noticed the charges on the credit card were for twice what he had told me.  I looked back at the paperwork and noticed he put the full price for the DVD's on the paper work. When I called to complain and ask to have the DVD's stop coming they informed me that I had indeed signed a contract and I could not get out of it.

I will continue to fight this and see that we can find an agreement, but anyone who even considers Living Scriptures please think twice. The content is good but they do not follow what they teach. They will lie to your face and tell you what you want to hear to make you sign their paperwork. Once that is done they will turn a second face.

After much explaining and talking with their customer support, they decided that we could return everything and they cancelled our account. The company is a good company and has great videos, but just beware of some sales people.

Overall the company dealt with this problem well.
