In the State of Michigan we are all hurting (some worse than others) and are all looking for good oppurtunities and you go on-line or pick up a paper and read First Preffered Mortgage Hiring (Southfield MI): Make 100k plus annually, Medical benefits, bonuses, paid time off, leads provided, 36k a year salary, direct lender, Vote for Pedro and all your dreams will come true well, maybe not the last part but you get the drift...

What you are not being told is that the pay structure is divided into different tiers of pay and anyone in the mortgage business (who is any good) knows that to get to $20,000 in revenue commision (only) shouldnt be like scaling the himilaya mountains so the pay structure is based on $0-$19,999 in commission revenue you will get paid $19,000 - 10,000 x 10% of that (example: $19,000 closed - $10,000 x 10% = $900) plus your 36k a year salary that is tier #1 ( the only tier anyone reading this will ever get to 99% of the time no matter your skill level) Tier #2 is basically get to 20k and you will get 3k (salary) + 3k (commision) = 6k okay, not bad especially in this economy...

Unfortunately for you (if you work there) the lie machine (Edge Kocak) the "HR" guy (good cop) and hands of fury (Jim Mack) (bad cop) didnt tell you that you have a s****.>

Anyhow I wont even go into Jason Bobby there flunky "manager" (who has contributed to sales what Milli Vanilli contributed to music) and all of there desperate longing's to be Quicken Loans (try to hire all there former employees).. Not to come off to harsh but it is not an understatement to say that these people actually enjoy firing people and the fear that power comes with and there goal and only goal is to squeeze you and get every last drop out of you and discard you like a spider discards a fly (after feeding time).  If you apply there beware and take heed lest "Zed catches another fly in the spider web". Peace..Get at me

#2 UPDATE Employee

Response to McDowell

AUTHOR: Aaron - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, October 17, 2010

I have been an employee of First Preferred for a long time. I have never seen or known anyone in that company to mislead or "ripoff" anyone. They are a first class operation. These are tough times in the lending industry, they are actually growing & providing jobs in this struggling Michigan economy. It sounds to me like the originator of this report needs to go home & get a hug from mommy. Maybe if he spent as much time looking for another job instead of writing reports filled with half truths he would be a little bit happier.

#1 UPDATE Employee

The other side of the story

AUTHOR: LO - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 19, 2009

I am a current employee of First Preferred Mortgage and i just want to let it be known to all who may read this story that this is not the view or opinion of all that works for First Preferred Mortgage.  i do understand the frustration and understand why these opinions have been posted.  none of us are getting back what we put in, none of us, not the loan officers, not the processing team and not the owners!  the problem is that the blame is unfairly being put on the backs of the owners not on the backs of the true guilty party, and that would be the economy, especially the housing market. if were to get back every loan that has been written and denied due to low home values or tighter guidelines, none of us would be complaining in fact we would be praising the company.  there is no question that the compensation becomes very rewarding at $20,000 in monthly revenue. Reaching that number has been a very challenging task but not an impossible one.  but do you really believe that was intentional?  do really think they sat around and said " lets create an unachievable mark so we don't have to pay?  what type of since would that make?  the more we sale the more they earn as a company.  and the more we earn as loan officers, the happier we are which creates a better environment for everyone including the owners, who shows up to work everyday like the rest of us, and work on the same floor as we do, how many owners of other mortgage companies can make the same claim?  how much money have they lost over the last 4 years?  i can only imagine, but they are still here, fighting the fight!  one thing that was distinctively left out of this complaint is the bonus that is in place.  its the quarterly bonus and it is design to reward your efforts, even if you come up short on your monthly goals, and it is a high as $4500 per quarter, which i feel is very generous. payroll is never missed, and there are no signs that they ever would be missed! so at worst case scenario, you make no less than 45,000 per year, with many of us set to make MUCH more in a struggling economy.  anyone need a job????   So, without going into a play by play confrontation, let me just share my opinion.  first, i feel very fortunate to be employed by First Preferred Mortgage.  Edge and Jim is doing everything it takes to survive in a industry that has seen some of the biggest names in the industry disappear.  they are doing so without taking shortcuts around the laws and guidelines that are coming into play it seems like everyday.  they are spending a substantial amount of money to make sure that everyone in the company can become licensed in each and every state we are doing business in.  which cost literally thousands of dollars per employee to do, and they do this without  no guarantee that you will remain with them in the future.  furthermore, i would have to believe that anyone who is posting to this site, failed to go to anyone of the owners and express there concerns or needs directly to them because if they had i am certain that it would have been taken into account and addressed  , i know because they have on many occasions for me.  the leads are not old and or scarce i get more than enough opportunities to make my sales everyday! and if someone is not getting enough they only have to ask for more, Jim is more than willing to give you as many opportunities to sell as you desire, and why wont he?  they not only provide jobs to those who may not otherwise have one, but they offer health insurance (BCBS)and 401k options during a time and in a state that is reporting the highest unemployment in the nation. with that said, it is sad to see former employees who could not cut the mustard, try to blame others for there own failures, if they were willing to leave a GOOD job to take this one then there must have been a reason, otherwise they would have stayed where they were, right?  if you are or are striving to be a loan officer and you have integrity and drive, look these guys up, its one of the last good opportunities available, and we all should show our gratitude that these guys have not done like some many others, packed up and called it a day, taking there money with them.  thank you Edge and Jim for providing me an opportunity.
i look for lots of success and good futures for all of us  in the future.
