At 6 a.m. I went online and successfully ordered a computer featured in both print and online ads. The order went thru and I received a confirmation number.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., I received a call from the Hampton store saying they were not going to ship my computer as they had none. I inquired if they were going to order it - they said no.
I called back and talked to the assistant manager, Mark who told me the ad was only for in store only (this was not in the print or online ad) and that they weren't going to honor my order.
We called back to talk to the store manager, Erin, who said the online was supposed to be "turned off" which it wasn't since they received multiple orders from customers. She said she had to talk to her boss, Don Hissler, but did not take my name or offer to contact me back.
I feel that I did everything right and their computer error is not my fault. I did not go out to purchase a computer as I thought I had already successfully ordered one.
I tried calling their corporate office but got disconnected several times. I will be contacting their corporate headquarters by certified mail with my complaint and simply request that they honor my request. They have runied my planned Christmas gift and I do not feel I should suffer due to their computer "glitch".
Do not trust anything you order from Office Depot as it does not mean anything. And so far, the are not honoring their commitment of the order. Their name does not evidently mean anything to them.

People Vs Office Depot
AUTHOR: Richard - (USA)

In support of your case - (1) tHE PERSONNEL at office Depot are dishonest. (2) If the product you ordered on your computer was advertised as "online" , and you got a confirmation, and then they retracted that order or confirmation based on the fact that is was " in store" that is violation of FTC regulations as possible false advertising or misleading advertising. In your case because you had the ad and confirmation # even more so the stress, to resolve this problem, I would have gone to a legal aid paralegal or a lawyer who takes people on a sliding scale, tell them that I am unemployed and for almost nothing sued them for hundreds of dollars because of my situation. Normally I then would call corporate in Boca Raton, Fla and my representative would get me a "free computer" + a $100-200 gift card to boot. Works for me with this company. Also teaches corporate a lesson, especially today when your dealing with scamsters right? Also did you dispute the charge off your credit card? Also for your information, when you file a dispute your bank charges processing fees as well against their merchant bank. Which is why Office Depot I believe is headed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy sometime this year if they haven't already filed. No government bail like Wall street. For example today I went to Office depot because I had a $60.00 free gift card. I walked intothe store on State college and Chapman in Fullerton, CA and there was not one person in the store. The economy is down, again this company is headed or already is in big financial trouble as most retail outlets are in California.
Usually, I don't bother the store personnel , I contact

Wish you better luck next time. Or better yet stay out this Office Depot!!!! I have had nothing but problems with themthe last couple of years. or don't order anything from them on your computer or online better yet.
Unless you want aggravation.

Office Depot sent me a computer at the same cost

Just an update - I was contacted by the Hampton store on Tuesday after I sent my letters to the corporate office and was told I would be given an HP computer with the same or better features for the price advertised on Black Friday.
On Wednesday, I picked up my new computer. I am very pleased that they made good on their ad and honored their commitment.

Well, Life's full of little disappointments. This was not a conspiracy, just a mistake.
You'll get over, I'd just let it go and move on. You'll still be able to buy a computer, I promise.

Had you..

Had you gone out at 6am you wouldn't have gotten one at that price anyways. People line up hours(and sometimes DAYS) before "Black Friday" to get what are known as the "Door Buster" sales.
Advertisers above have met our
