I walked in to the dealership on a friday evening. I was met by the manager and after walking around the lot, agreed to terms on a car. Everything was smooth sailing as they collected information from my father (co-signer) and I. When it came time to print the contract, the manager struggled on the computer for over two hours. He explained that the owner was usually the one who did this.

Apparently, the owner had taken a vacation to the Keys and wouldn't be back till monday. I thought it was strange that the manager of a dealership wouldn't be able to operate his own systems. Finally, the contract was printed and we signed it. They handed me the keys and we left.

Monday rolls around and suddenly the owner is calling my dad telling him that he needs to come in right away. The car had been sold for much too cheap and the real price for the vehicle was actually $2000 more. Also, the interest rate that we had signed for was going to double. We could kiss our promised tire rotation goodbye.

My dad told him that we had already signed a contract with clear terms. The owner said that the contract we had was worthless because it had been signed by the manager and not the owner. He demanded that we agree to the new terms or he threatened to repossess the car. At this point the owner started making wild accusations of my father. He even said that my dad had represented himself as a cop and forced his staff to agree to a bad deal. All of this was complete BS.

When my dad told me about the conversation it all registered. I believe that this is a common scam for Raceway Motors. How convenient that the owner happened to be out of town when I bought my car. Why would the manager knowingly sell cars and sign bogus contracts without any authority to do so???

I wanted nothing to do with this scummy dealership at this point so I returned the keys and got my deposit back.

Literally everything in your rebuttal is a lie. Where should I begin? First of all, this is the son, not the father. If you had read the report that would be clear to you.

No one ever impersonated a law enforcement officer. I was present the entire time and you are lying. The price and terms of sale were agreed upon well before anyone asked where he worked. Furthermore, no discount was ever given to us. You and/or the owner of the shop schemed to rip us off by changing both the price of the vehicle and the terms of the loan.

There is a reason why Raceway Motors has been graded a solid F by the Better Business Bureau. There are 6 complaints filed against you with the BBB, and you failed to resolve all of them. There are two other Ripoff Reports against you on this site.

I only wish that I had checked your reputation before engaging in business with you. Your business practices are immoral and illegal. Please do call the authorities. I don't know why you bothered to write a rebuttal to my report because anyone who looks for your business online will be quickly scared away by all the negative reviews.

First I am the manager he met. The man who wrote this report came into the dealership looking for a car for his son. After speaking to him he told me he was a law enforcement officer for the Department of Homeland Security. We even have a signed credit application on this customer saying that is his employer. My father was a U.S. Marine and we discount all our vehicles for law enforcement officials and especailly the men and women who are or have ever served in our milatary witn an honorable discharge. This man recieved that discount. When he was asked to display his credentials he fumbled and started lying more. He also gave us a personal check which we never cashed and returned to him. He is very lucky we did not report him to law enforcement for impersonating a law enforcement offical. Which is a felonally. However we gave his check back and took back our car and left it at that. Unfortunately this man couldn't however if they would like to come back to the store we can call the U.S. marshalls together and see what their take on this is.
