Recently my car was stolen in Las Vegas and recovered 24 hrs later by the Clark Co. School police. It had been abandoned at a school about six miles from where it was taken. The officer called me at 5:30am to advise me the vehicle was recovered and it would have to be towed off the property. I had an option to call a towing service but had never used one before so i was not familiar with any. The officer advised they would use the list service, which was Snap towing.

Big mistake on my part.  I called Snap a few hours later to check on the condition of the vehicle and the tow bill. They would not give me any details as to the condition of the vehicle as to whether it was driveable or not. They told me the tow bill was approximately $450.00. I was totally astounded. They began quoting the fees. Base fee + mileage + after hours + $30.00 storage fee beginning the minute it went thru the gate. The vehicle was towed about 20 miles.

I called the Clark Co. school police to find out why they would use a service that would rip a consumer off who had already been victimized by the theft. They stated Snap Towing had the city contracts for towing in Henderson, Nv., and also was a list service for Clark Co.

I decided I needed to get my vehicle out of this place as soon as possible before they came up with more fees I was'nt expecting. I called a local towing service who quoted me a price of $65.00 to tow the vehicle from Snap Towing to my residence, which was about 18 miles.

When we arrived to pick up the vehicle Snap Towing advised they would be a $50.00 fee to set the vehicle out so the towing service I was using could load it up. This isn't an option. If you want your vehicle you pay the fee. After they had added all the charges they could the final bill came out to over $540.00. This was for a 20 mile tow.

This is a big company and according to the tow driver I used to tow it home, because this bunch has contracts with the city of Henderson and Clark Co. they can pretty much do as they please with no recourse against them.

My purpose here is to simply alert other potential victims of this unscrupulous company.  If you are involved in an accident or have your vehicle stolen,  where the police are involved there is a good chance the police will use Snap Towing since they are a list service, unless you specify otherwise. Don't be a victim like me and exercise your right to choose the service of your choice.

Im a 65yoa senior citizen who lives on my social sercurity and they had no problem doing this to me and they will have no problem doing it to you.
