I spent over $50k at Sound Advice setting up electonics in my home and have been very unhappy with my experience.  This was a horrible decision.  Though the product offering is good, the service and installation has been a series of calamities.  Sound Advice cared about me until the sale was over and my money was in the register.  That is when the experience completely shifted.

It started to go wrong when they sent an installer to my house which made my fiance feel uncomfortable.  His constant stares and demeaning tone made my family uncomfortable in our home.  He would spend the first 30 minutes of each install day explaining how "the salesman was an idiot and sold us the wrong product because all he cared about was commissions and getting a bigger sale."  He then yelled (actually yelled) at my fiance when she would try to ask him to explain one of the remote controls or why a certain device wouldn't do what it was supposed to do.  Sound Advice eventually terminated the installer after many complaints.  The experience only continued to spiral down after this first installer experience.

After 9 months and dozens of hours wasted trying to get them to stand behind the products and services they sold me, I am still in a place where my electronics do not work; specifically, my managed network that they told me I had to have to prevent frustrations.  The only solution they offer me is to give them more money for an upgraded managed network when all I want is for the one they sold me to be replaced so that it performs as they told me it would.  It should be covered by warranty and easily replaced.  Once again, they focus their energies on trying to up-sell me rather than making surte I am satisfied with my purchases.  The corporate culture at Sound Advice is solely sales-oriented and lacking the integral aspect of customer service.

Furthermore, it is nearly impossible to get their employees to keep their word and fulfill the expectations that they set.  On more than 10 occassions, salesmen, managers, directors, installers and even service-schedulers have promised to come up with a solution and call me back shortly without me ever hearing from them again.  They believe that if they make it so difficult to get my product and installation warrantied then I will simply give up on my expectation of a fully functioning system.  I will not accept the subpar service or products installed in my home.

I went with Sound Advice because of the great experience I had years ago before they sold to Tweeter and closed down.  Trust me that this isn't the same Sound Advice that nurtured a relationship and provided excellent customer service.  This new Sound Advice has a corporate culture that just doesn't cut it in today's competitive retail environment.

If they treat customers that make $50k purchases with such apathy then I can only imagine how they value and treat customers that have smaller purchases.  Do yourself a favor and find a better vendor that actually cares about their customers.
