tire kingdom TBC corp mechanic flat rate pay scam ft lauderdale Florida

 i worked for tire kingdom for 3 years. I was let go in may over "improper documentation" when there store manager purposly took the papers away before i can document the papers! About a month or so later store manager was fired so he got what was coming to him. I believe the real reason I was fired was cause i complained to payroll about the way in which i was being paid and they had the store manager frame me. 

I am/was a flat rate mechanic which means i was to be paid for EVERYTHING i did. At tire kingdom u as a flat rate mechanic do not get paid for everything u do! For example more than half of my duties consisted of oil change/tire rotation/battery check. Tire kingdom includes free tire rotation and free battery checks with EVERY oil change. What does tire kingdom pay the tech for this deal?--0.25 flag hours! if u look up the proper flat rate time for this u are supposto be paid minimum 0.30 for oil change alone, 0.30 for tire rotation and 0.30 for battery check. In other words u are supposto be paid 0.90 and they pay you 0.25!!!!!!!!!so to the customers out there-everytime u go in for oil change and your free rotation someone is not being paid for that work performed on your vehicle(in a sense)

Ok, lets b fair, tire kingdom pays there mechanics $11 an hr for all hours worked. NO they do not pay overtime. You will be there for 50 hours a week and get paid straight $11 an hour. The 11$ is the base so if u go 11 x 50 = your base pay per week is 550$. Even if they have you at a flat rate of 23$ an hr what is the sense when they dont pay you the flag hours!!!! For example my 23$ rate for work performed never touched the base rate and every single check i had i was always in "guarantee". The kicker was also many times the guarantee for 2 week pay periods was anywhere between $20-100. So then u have to think to yourself. Imagine they paid me for ALL work performed. I would not be in "guarantee". See here you are either paid by your flag hours or 11$ hr WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

The 11$ was always the greater cause they dont pay you your flag hours. So you go there as a flat rate tech and then not pay you your flag hours then use that as an excuse to pay you the minimum. To me this is a pay scam. Also what u deal with there as a mechanic is the people who come in for there "policy alignments" and they pay you 5$. according to flag ratetime you as mechnaic are supposto be paid 1.2 flag hours. Instead, think, they pay you 5$ and at 23$ an hr that means you are getting paid roughly .30 FOR ALIGNMENT in comparison to 1.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!What if it is a paid alignment?-u get 15$ nd that equals to roughly .70 of what should be 1.2.

Since most of my duties consisted of oil change/free tire rotation/free battery checks and free wheel alignments i wasnt paid the proper commisions/flag hours and some cases NO flag hours how is one expected to "break the base"? Besides all this it does seem like tire kingdom has store mangers(who amounted to nothing in life hence why they tire kingdom store manager) on a power trip. There was only a couple that didnt come out and harass me about dumb crap i.e. where's your safety googles?, put the chains up.

The last store manager i dealt with was 23 yrs old, knew nothing about a car and tried to direct me to fix a car and diagnose!!--There was one day he says pull this car in to do control arm busghing on a honda 2009 with 40k on it--i always test drive car to confirm if problem--i didnt feel anything wromng and looked at the ar anyway-i didnt see anything wrong with the bushings and ask him what is wrong here?-he couldnt tell me why they were replacing a bushing and he couldnt even tell me which side bushing!!!!!!!

-then he looks himself with a flashlight and says yea the right one is shot-lol---both of them looked the same--with this you will also get store managers who dont know wat there talkin about rip u off as a customer------------------------------this is the same manager who i suspect was sent to frame and fire me who also had a thing to threaten everyone else with being fired--one day we had a "store meeting" and he says "if u dont beep the horn while your backin a car out i'm gonna fire you cause if i dont enforce these rules they will fire me and i will fire you before they fire me"

--The best part was-there was no company policy on this--In addition to the chains in front of bay entrance he decided to put cones there as well and threatened to fire us if we dont put these cones back--this also was not a company policy!!!!!!!!!!!--i think they sent him to fire me and went on a trip where he though he can fire everyone else---he a month after he fired me was fired--luckily i sent an e mail to district manager about his actions to threaten 2 fire everyone before he got me!!!!!!!!

sorry if i went on a rant and my typing went different but i got tired of bein right and proper----fact is for me in my employment there it just felt like every single day i was being lied to and i know i could of made more money if they paid me my  proper flag hours--so if your a mechanic out there lookin for a job this is what u can expect with there pay system--the commision on alignments seems to go down-when i first started they were 17.50 now 15$-further cut can be expected--for the tire techs they were paid minimum wage + commisions--there commision rates also were cut in half a couple years ago and they did this during middle of pay cycle

--they saw there commsions in the computer an then when they got paid there pay was chopped bad-with no warning!!!!!!!!!---this is what u can expect asa tire tech--but i think now they pay the tire techs 9$ hr with no commision----------so take it how u want but this is what u can expect--------also another thing-they do not pay you for air filter installation---so you do your oil change/tire rotaion/battery check for 0.25 and in te rare chance one of there cashiers-AKA-salesmangers sells an air filter you will not be paid to install it--it is supposto pay .30-so look out for that scam 2
