tomssale2013.com is not a legitimate Toms retailer, but posing as one. They have pulled all the SEO tricks so that their website shows up first in the organic search results in search engines.
Beware of these big red flags when going on this site:
- This website listed an address of SHOE MARKET, 160 N 6TH ST, BROOKLYN, NY 11211 as their phsyical address. I looked up the actual Shoe Market, called them, and they told me that this website is in no way related to their business.
- note: tomssale2013.com seems to have removed the address from their website. But, if you go to WayBack at http://archive.org/web/web.php, you can see archived pages from the past. Take a look at a snapshot of the site on 6/29/2013 at http://web.archive.org/web/20130629182031/http://tomssale2013.com. The address is listed in the footer.
- This website has no privacy policies.
- After placing an order, you are redirected to Alipay, a payment service based in China. I am not sure if this is secure.
- Read their blog, FAQ, About Us, and anything else on their website. None of it makes much sense. It's just stuffed with a bunch of keywords to trick search engines into boosting their organic search rankings.
They may be legit, who knows. I cancelled my credit card immediately after I realized this was all very fishy so I never received the items I "purchased". I'm just reporting that their business model and tactics are all very questionable, to say the least.
