I got a call from one of their sales people mid 2010 asking me to renew their services. I have never, ever made use of their services in the past and last month I had a call from one of their reps telling me it was time to renew my account. I reminded them of never having used or paid for their services in the past. The 411.ca rep told me I was legally liable and they would begin action if I did not pay up. I told her to start proceedings and that I was willing to take this to the supreme court. They had the address of a former residence of mine and I have to conclude that when they send out their sales pitches and if you don't respond, you are automatically considered to be saying yes to their grand sales package. or in the words of Sir Thomas Moore: "Qui tacet consentire": "Silence gives consent".
None the less, if you get a call from these folks asking you to pay-up, just hang-up. judging by the number of similar instances (just google 411.ca problems scam) it sounds like this type of treatment is integrated into their marketing plan.
