We contacted Aaron Belter who was selling his 1988 Sea Ray 345 Sedan Bridge for $35,000.00. We met with Mr. Belter at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey where he had his boat docked. Mr. Belter showed us his boat and showed us the survey that he had for the boat. Mr. Belter stated that the boat was in perfect condition. So we took Mr. Belter's word and bought the boat from him on 7/6/2020 for $35,000.00 cash.

We had noticed that some items on the boat were not working and Mr. Belter said he would take of the items. There was a new VHF radio, but it was not connected, the outlet in the forward cabin wasn't working and a few other items that we brought to Mr. Belter's attention and he said he would take care of them. But unfortunately Mr. Belter did not take care of the items that he said he would take care of.

We were having an oil change done on both engines and our mechanic noticed a small leak on the port side engine and it turned out to be a simple fix. Then our mechanic did the oil change and when he checked the transmission fluid he noticed that the fluid was milky and said that the transmission was compromised. The mechanic said that the fluid had been milky for a very long time and was the reason why the port side transmission would not go into nuetral. When we asked Mr. Belter about this, he stated that he knew nothing about the milky fluid in the transmission, Mr. Belter had originally told us that the reason the transmission didnt go into nuetral was because the shifters in the cabin and flybridge were not in sync with each other.

So we received bids on what the repair costs would be and the repairs were between $3,000.00 and $10,000.00. When we contacted Mr. Belter about these repair costs he stated that he would not pay for the repair costs and he began to get hostile with us. So we contacted his attorney Brandon Fernald to handle the mediation between Mr. Belter and us. Unfortunately Mr. Fernald was just as uncooperative as Mr. Belter was. Mr. Fernald stated that Mr. Belter had no idea about the condition of the transmission and didn't feel that Mr. Belter should pay for any of the repairs.

We decided to have a mechanic fix our transmission problem. In the process of getting the transmission out of the boat, the mechanic had to remove parts from the engine and once he removed the exhaust to the engine, he noticed that the exhaust manifolds were corroded really bad and they too needed to be replaced. We contacted Mr. Fernald regarding what the mechanic discovered and Mr. Fernald was once again uncooperative with trying to resolve the matter with Mr. Belter. The total repair cost came to over $10,000.00. And with no cooperation from Mr. Belter or Mr. Fernald, we decided to take Mr. Belter to small claims court for defrauding us.

Mr. Belter owns AB Yachts Group, Inc. and another company called Ex-Pirate Marine, Inc. in Marina del Rey, CA, where Mr. Belter has been selling boats for years. Mr. Belter buys junk boats, makes some repairs and sells these boats to unsuspected buyers like ourselves. I wonder how many other buyers Mr. Belter has defrauded and ripped off. Mr. Belter led us to believe that this boat was in perfect condition, when in reality it wasn't and we believe that Mr. Belter knew of the problems that this boat had and that he failed to inform us of these problems.

We also discovered that Mr. Belter has a criminal history for fraud, theft and among other things. including preying on underage girls and taking advantage of these young girls. If you Google Aaron Belter you will see many articles written about him. Mr. Belter was last charged with yacht theft here in California and in Texas. My question is this: How is an individual like Mr. Belter a member of the prestigious California Yacht Club where we are also members at? This man has an extensive criminal record and has preyed on underage girls! Yet he is a member of California Yacht Club? Other members at the yacht club should be notified of Mr. Belter's criminal record, especially those members with children and teenage girls. I know I would be concerned if Mr. Belter was there when my children were there.

Mr. Belter stated that he had other boats in other marinas in Marina del Rey, I wonder if these other marinas know about Mr. Belter's criminal history and the accusations made against him. I'm sure if these marinas, who do business with Mr. Belter ever found out about Mr. Belter's criminal history, I'm pretty confident that they would stop doing business with him and maybe Mr. Belter will stop defrauding prospective buyers.

We will see Mr. Belter in court on February 2, 2021, wish us luck and we will let everyone know what the outcome was.

Corrections Regarding Aaron Belter and AB Yachts Group, Inc.

AUTHOR: Elle - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 01, 2022

We contacted Aaron Belter, the owner of AB Yachts Group, Inc., who was selling a 1988 Sea Ray 345 Sedan Bridge for $35,000.00. We met with Mr. Belter at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, where he had this boat docked. Mr. Belter showed us this boat and showed us the marine survey that he had for the boat. Mr. Belter stated that the boat was in good condition. So we took Mr. Belter's word and bought the boat from him on 7/6/2020 for $35,000.00 cash.

We had noticed that some items on the boat were not working and Mr. Belter said he would take care of the items. There was a new VHF radio, but it was not installed,!the outlet in the forward cabin wasn't working and a few other items that we brought to Mr. Belter's attention and he said he would take care of them. But unfortunately Mr. Belter did not take care of the items that he said he would take care of.

We took the boat out for a sea trial with Mr. Belter and his attorney Brandon Fernald. The boat backed out of the slip just fine and we then went forward heading down the main channel. The boat’s starboard engine had staled twice as we were heading down the channel and once we made it to the ocean the boat never staled again. Mr. Fernald got the boat up to 19 knots and the boat performed how it should.

We then took over the controls from Mr. Fernald and drove to Santa Monica Pier and back for about 1 hour. We then pulled into Mr. Belter’s slip at California Yacht Club. After that we bought the boat. We were having an oil change done on both engines and our mechanic noticed a small leak on the port side engine and it turned out to be a simple fix.

Then our mechanic did the oil change and when he checked the transmission fluid he noticed that the fluid was milky and said that the transmission was compromised. The mechanic said he couldn’t tell how long that the fluid had been milky and that it was the reason why the port side transmission would not go into nuetral.

Belter about these repair costs he stated that he would not pay for the repair costs and he began to argue with us, stating that boat as sold in as is condition as the bill of sale indicated.

Belter to small claims court in Santa Monica, CA for defrauding us. Mr. Belter owns AB Yachts Group, Inc. in Marina del Rey, CA. Mr.

Belter led us to believe that this boat was in good running condition, when in reality it wasn't and we believe that Mr. Belter knew of the problems that this boat had and that he failed to inform us of these problems despite what Mr. Belter’s marine survey indicated. On February 4, 2021, we won our case against Mr. Belter in Santa Monica Small Claims Court (see Roland Ortiz vs. Aaron Belter) and the court awarded us $10,000.00.

On our original complaint on RipoffReport.com Report ID# 1502203, we had made a mistake about Mr. Belter’s past history and criminal record. The Aaron Belter that we took to court, the owner of AB Yachts Group, Inc., does not have a middle name and the negative information we found online belongs to an Aaron M. Belter and Aaron R. Belter and is "not” the Aaron Belter we took to court. We would like to apologize for our mistake and retract our false accusations against Mr. Belter.

We tried to get Ripoffreport.com to remove our original complaint against Mr. Belter so that we could make the corrections, but Ripoffreport.com never responded to our emails. The Aaron Belter that we took to court never preyed on young underage girls or took advantage of underage girls. Mr. Belter is not the Aaron Belter that was accused of this article "Man Accused of Impersonating an MTV Employee” as written by the Buffalo News, this was about someone named Aaron M. Belter.

There are other articles online that have nothing to do with Aaron Belter, the owner of AB Yachts Group, Inc. in Marina del Rey, California. AB Yachts Group, Inc. in Marina del Rey, CA is no longer in business.

Sea Trial

AUTHOR: Roland - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 01, 2022

We pulled the boat out of the slip in reverse with no issues and then took the boat out to the ocean for a sea trial. We took the boat for a sea trial with his attorney Brandon Fernald and the boat had no issues and performed like it should. Our sea trial lasted for 1 hour and we got the boat up to 19 knots with no issues.

Mr. Fernald drove the boat first and then my husband Roland Ortiz drove the boat and there were no issues. Then we took the boat back to the slip. There was no warranty with the sale of this boat. And we did not do our own survey or mechanical inspection before we purchased the boat.
