On December 28, 2011 I entered into a binding contract as a USAA member with ADT to install four gateway surveillance cameras at my residents. A hard drive was added to the system on January 17, 2012. The monthly payments were initially debit from my checking account until I encounter serious repeated errors on behalf of ADT billing department. Therefore, I chose to pay off the account in full payment. An extended warranty was purchased with the system which is referred to as a Quality Service Plan. Also, in order to monitor my residents remotely it required a $24.29 fee in which was obtained. The monitoring fee was paid on July 17, 2014 in the amount of $177.24 for any acquired charges until February 2015. On June 28, 2014 I attempted to remotely view the residential activities but was unable to complete the transaction. I attempted numerous times afterwards with no avail. The matter persisted resulting in me asking family members to troubleshoot the system. Due to continuous unavailability a telephone call was placed to ADT service department. I was informed by the service technician after completing his maintenance on September 26, 2014 that the system needed to be upgraded in order to view remotely. As a customer I have relied on ADT professionalism in "good faith" as a retired military person. I was ambushed by the fact that ADT knowingly had sold me a system on the onset that would require an update shortly after the installment. The troubling aspect about this entire matter is that I have paid the monitoring in advance for service I am not receiving. Also, they had a moral obligation to at least inform me that the service was not being rendered. However, they chose to remain silent and collect the monies. There is no constitutional value in misleading advertisement other than capital gain. In ADT website the public deserves the respect to be provided with issues that affects them directly. ADT chose not to comply. The omitted intended information can cause financial hardship to one's residents and impact their insurance policy should a breach occur. There is a moral order that has established by USSA and it is to take care of their veterans and insurers. ADT breached that obligation. This matter is worthy of media attention due to the deceit and misleading statements. ADT knowingly and willfully failed to advise me of any equipment that would need to be updated on the onset of the binding contract although, the sales associate attempted to sell me the Pulse System. Now ADT is requesting that I purchase the Pulse System in order to remotely view my residents. As a customer I should not have to purchase nor pay any additional monies. It is clear that this is all about profit.
