some guy from the company sent me a very Nasty Message when I offered to refer a client to him that was legitimate.

I guess when you had to give up all of your "Volunteer Excecutive" positions you needed to find something to fill your time. Apparently that includes you now being in the business of sending leads to companies for General Contract work?
Perhaps you should also post your "Sales Pitch". By the way, just how much were you going to charge for your fee?
