Alliance World Wide Van Lines Charged by elderly parents more than the quote even though the movers left 75% of the belongings behind, the mattress was soaked & mirror broken. Davie, Florida

My elderly parents recently moved from their home in Oregon to live with me and my husband in California (December 27, 2012).  On December 4, 2012 I contracted with Alliance World Wide Van Lines to move, not all, but specific furniture items along with select smaller items that the movers were to pack, scheduled for December 27th, 2012.  The quote I received listed the specific furniture and items; the price was based on the weight of the items (2456 lbs. @ .43/lbs., 351 cf.), along with packing costs totaling $1,474.08.  My parents paid $406.00 deposit by credit card on December 4, 2012, leaving a balance due of $1,068.08.
 
By the time the movers arrived (approx. 11:00 a.m. December 27th, 2012), my parents had put post-it notes on furniture and items that said Take, or Leave.  On their small kitchen table that was not listed on the original quote my mom taped a sign, Move This.  My parents also had a couple of boxes they had packed themselves, and some additional items that we expected to pay the additional cost for moving.
 
The movers were scheduled to arrive with the delivery on Saturday December 29th, 2012 so we removed the temporary bed from their room in preparation of the delivery of their bed and bedroom furniture.  Later the same day, I received a call from my parents realtor expressing concern about furniture that remained in my parents house along with their bedding piled in the bedroom.
 
The movers showed up at 8:30 that night (Saturday) demanding cash payment in full in the amount of $1,218.00; $149.92 more than the balance due, even though 75% of the furniture listed in the quote had been left behind at their home in Oregon.  I argued with the mover for thirty minutes to no avail.  He called his dispatch, so I asked for the dispatch number and called.  The dispatcher told me that the driver said he had brought exactly what my parents told him to bring.  I told the dispatcher that the driver was lying; my claim was dismissed and I was told that I had to pay in full or they would not off-load the belongings which included my parents bed. 
 
My elderly father was so upset that he paid them the money so he and my mother would be able to go to bed.
 
The movers finished off-loading and setting up at 11:30 p.m.; my parents were stressed and exhausted.  Their king mattress was partially soaked, the movers had brought only one of their two bed pillows along with the fitted sheet; however, they had left behind the flat sheet, blankets and comforter.  The dresser mirror was shattered.  My parents got to bed at midnight.  The following day my mother was in tears about the situation.  My dad woke up at 3:00 a.m. throwing up vial and did not eat again until Monday due to the stress of the situation and ever since has showed signs in his walking that he has perhaps suffered a mini-stroke.
 
Of the furniture items that were left behind were each of my parents upholstered chairs that they sit in daily.  The chairs are significant because of my parents physical conditions and mobility issues that make sitting on a couch and most other chairs uncomfortable and difficult to get into and out of.
 
Alliance World Wide Van Lines did not meet their contract obligation to move the items that were paid to move, they grossly padded the weight, even if they had brought everything in the quote and the additional items, the items that were delivered do not come close to requiring the stated space of 351 cf., plus there was damage to the mattress and the dresser mirror.
 
I have sent numerous emails and left several telephone messages with James Walker (my contact at Alliance World Wide Van Lines for the quote and deposit payment), without any response.
 
This companys moving services are less than incompetent, there is no customer service and they are dishonest.
