American Education Services. I originally took out student loans for $45,000 and a parent plus loan for myself to get a teaching credential and a $5,000 loan to help my daughter while she attended Berkeley. I have been repaying those loans since 2001 (13 years with no defaults or late payments).  After paying around $40,000, my balance is still $39,000. In the meantime, the loans have been consolidated and sold many times in a giant confusing whorlwind and each time the loan is sold it seems that the balance increases mysteriously.  Also I was supposed to be getting a deduction in those loan balances while I taught public school for 3 years and have no record of receiving that. Long story short, I can not get the proper information to do a complete audit and the worst part is that I am eligible for the government relief of those loans, but AES says that I am not because of the Parent Plus loan which was consolidated into my loan.  I have offered to pay the Parent Plus loan so that I can get the student loan relief on my debt, but AES says they won't accept the pay off of the Parent Plus.  Now I have to keep paying $367 a month for 20 more years.  I will have paid $110,000 for a $50,000 loan.  I was told when I signed up for student loans that I would be paying simple interest, but it obviously is not simple interest. It is simple interest COMPOUNDED DAILY that is the main issue that I don't see people talking about. It is really compounded interest. If this were a simple interest car loan for example, the loan would have been paid for long ago.
