Dear BBB,

AutoNation Chrysler Dodge Jeep Katy dealership needsto be blacklisted and all military members in the surrounding area of Houston need to know about their bait and switch with customers. I have served this great nation proudly for 24 years. I do not know how many times; they have pulled this on customers in the past. I refuse to be a victim and hopefully this will stop them doing it in the future. I am not any customer with AutoNation Katy. I have purchased 8 vehicles in the past 15 years with them. Also, I have referred several military members, friends, and family to go purchase a vehicle there. I received an email from General Manager CecilioFlores asking of my experience. I emailed my response below about my concerns with not meeting an agreement with the trade offer but decided to continue my loyalty with them on purchasing my future vehicle.

Hello Cecilio, (GM)

Thank you for reaching out, I was at the dealership yesterday working with salesman Hector making my deposit to hold a 2021 Ram TRX. Salesman Caleb initiated the process on helping us find our new truck. I have been a loyal customer for 15 years at that dealership. Below is a list of vehicles I have purchased there. I have always been satisfied with my purchases. The sales team through the years has always been professional. Which is the main reason for me to always come back as well as being Dodge and Ram fanatics. However, this last purchase for the TRX has left me puzzled with my trade. Your sales management was unable to match a competitor trade offer with the Laramie. My sales tax on the TRX is estimated $5700. I am losing out the sales tax that should have been around $2900 with the trade. This is discouraging as a customer I always want to get the most on my purchase. Even with this $2800 difference, I still came to this dealership and put my deposit down on the TRX. In the past, numbers have been worked through and both parties ended up being happy. But that was not the case this last time. I just wanted to bring this to your attention. I really thought more effort could have been made to get a better result. Even though I was not completely happy. I stayed loyal to this dealership that has always been good to me and my family purchasing cars. I look forward to my TRX getting to the dealership within the next couple months and completing my purchase.

• 2007 Chevy Cobalt • 2014 Challenger SXT - new • 2011 Honda Accord • 2013 Challenger SRT 392 - new • 2012 Ram 1500 Express - new • 2012 Charger RT - new • 2015 Ram 1500 Sport - new • 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport – new • 2021 Ram TRX – new and waiting to arrive.

19 May 2021, “Bait” I was told by the sales team prior to putting my deposit. They are selling the vehicle at MSRP and not bumping up the price. I signed the buyers orderand put my deposit on the vehicle. Oh, did I mention my wife recorded the whole thing.

21 May 2021, “Switch” I received a phone call from Sales Manager Jared Crosby informing me the MSRP was increased $5,000 along with my two options. Agree to the increase or come in to receive my deposit back. I refused to answer either option.

So, I have decided option #3 sending a letter to the BBB is the best route for the AutoNation “Bait & Switch” Katy Dealership. Not to mention informing everyone about their unprofessional tactics. So, all my military members, friends and family in Texas and Houston area spread the word.  AutoNation Katy is not loyal to their return customers. Do not get caught with the Bait and Switch. They fail to put the customer first. Whatever comes out of this… I will not be purchasing another vehicle from this dealership and I will continue to let everyone I know about my negative experience with them!!

Buyers Remorse...Not Bait and Switch

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, May 23, 2021

Oh brother another person playing the "Veteran Card". I have great respect for the Military and Military Veterans...INCLUDING you. But you lose some of that respect when people like you pull the "I was a Veteran and because of that.....". Which is exactly what you are doing.
Nothing in your report or what they did shows that this happened because you were a Veteran.

As for the truck. You are complaining that you think they could have done a better deal.....BUT you still did the deal.

What's really curious is why would your wife record the whole thing? I thought you trusted this dealer?

As for what you called the switch. It is very common for the final price of a CUSTOM order to vary up until the time the order is actually placed. They gave you the opportunity to get your deposit back so you weren't forced into the deal. In fact if you did get your deposit back you could have taken it to the other dealer you say gave you a better deal.
The only possible valid claim you may have is IF you signed something that guaranteed the final price, and there was no clause that stated it COULD change. Otherwise if there is any RipOff here, it is the one you did to yourself.
