On June 11, 2011, me and my family went to autozone to have our car battery tested. Come to find out we need a new battery and when one of the employees was testing the battery another employee informed him it took him over an hour to change the battery and he wouldn't changed the battery if it was him. Of course that employee when into the store and told the store manager about his experience last week and therefore she informed the employee not to change the battery. I told him I felt they was discriminating against us and that my husband will change the battery. They indicated they aren't allowed to work on a car over ten minutes and my husband changed it in less than 9 minutes. When I went to purchase the battery, the manager stated the rules in the computer and I told her I will contact someone in the corporate office about this situation. Than out of the blue another manager stated you can call and say what you want to say. It's to bad my mind is shallow and that's the rules. I asked for her name and she didn't provide me with her name, and stated dancing and being very unprofessional in the store. She then told me to get out of the store and I said I wasn't leaving until I received the merchandise I purchased. I will never, ever, ever, ever go to that store ever again. I will also inform my friends and families to spread the word of going into customer service store and not receiving the customer service that we should receive. Also there was 4 employees in the store, and only two customers in which we were 1 of the 2. This store need to be re-trained or the employees and managers need to be replaced. I am looking for every means I can find to get this information out to the public in St. Mary's County so they will never patronized this store location ever. Also the managers probably know the district manager and regional manager so nothing is ever going to change with this store locations, unless the consumers stick together.

They were fired? Then why you tar Autozone with a Ripoff Report?

AUTHOR: voiceofreason - (United States of America)

They were fired, huh? Then why did you rush to tar Autozone with a Ripoff Report before giving their corporate machinery time to do their due diligence in responding to your issue? Apparently they did just what an unhappy customer would want; they took care of the issue. You're very successful and educated, huh. Starting to sound a bit like BARARA of Portland. No relation by any chance, are you? Lost 2 hapless souls their living because they weren't skilled enough to tackle a less than cut and dry battery change-out? How dare they not be able to change the battery for their highly educated betters and superior beings!!!!!!! I hope you're very happy with your new battery. What a tool!

Now you are going to spank us with long winded definitions and lectures about mis-understanding your report due to our ignorance.  You were asked "How were you discriminated against.  Don't blame us if you cannot express yourself adequately.

Ridiculous Statements

AUTHOR: Disappointed Customer - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 28, 2011

You know it's extremely funny how we are in the 21st century and narrow minded people think discrimination has everything to do with race. Here is the definition of discrimination "the power of making fine distinctions; discriminating  judgment." It doesn't always have to do with race, but can be of a possession, disability, gender, etc. The particular mind set that many of you have displayed is the same mind set that my family and I were forced to encounter that day.

This site is for consumers to voice their opinions and experiences with a particular company and that is what was provided. It's not our problem that un-trained employees don't know how to explain the procedures and policies of a company in which they are employed. I have patronized several companies of this nature and have never, ever encountered an experience such as this. I am a very successful, professional, and educated consumer. Actions such as this happen everyday within this region believe it or not. In addition, no I am not of a minority group, but if I was in any group it will be equality for everyone and not just of a certain race.

Also for the record, the manager and an employee of this store have received several complaints about this same instance and in turn have been terminated for being un-professional. It is highly unfair to subject a young adult, such as my daughter, to see this display of unprofessionalism in the workplace. There were a perfect example of how not to act. It seems to me that everyone that had something negative to say may want to take their energy and effort and do something productive in their lives.

How exactly were you discriminated against?

Are you a member of a minority group, such as STUPID?

Get a life.

Good luck though, like someone said, "You can't fix stupid."

Here we go again..

Another case of "discrimination", they are all rude and against us.  I don't think the Autozone employees were out to ruin your day by being rude to you.

You mention the district and regional managers all being part of the big conspiracy to treat you badly so I guess that bringing your problem to them proved fruitless.

Maybe the problem is YOU.  Be nice to people and store employees, you will get much better service.

Expecting too much

AUTHOR: voiceofreason - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 28, 2011

I've never seen an Autozone store around here with a garage or mechanics work area. That tells me that none of their employees are there to do any work or installations on a car, at any time. There are some chains like Pep Boys, where I've seen service facilities, mostly for tire changing, batteries, maybe shocks, etc. Now that doesn't mean a store manager or employee might not help do something simple if they're of a mind to, and know how to, such as wiper blade replacing etc. But they certainly can't be expected to do these things. That's like expecting a stockboy in a supermarket to cook your dinner. Autozone simply sells parts. That's their business model, at least in these parts.

gotta be kidding me...

AUTHOR: tsidney - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 28, 2011

the antics and unprofessional-ism of the managers seem strange and unjustified. however...

in the computer, when they are looking up the part, it lists the time it takes to change the battery if it is difficult.  some cars are easy to do, and others have a fuse box or metal bar in the way, or are difficult to reach.  if a zoner did not have much experience with your car and said it takes an hour, guess how long you're going to be waiting in the parking lot?  you will encounter the same thing, whether you go to advance, or'reilly's, nappa, or pep boys.

autozoners are not mechanics.  they are sales associates at a Do It Yourself car part retailer, and no amount of training makes a hard to reach battery easier to change.  if they tell you they can't change your car battery, they can't change your car battery.  if your husband is THAT able and good at changing the battery, he should have done it in the first place.  your statement that you were discriminated against is laughable, dramatic, and ridiculous.

in some ways, i can see how you are mad.  however, you are not entitled to a free battery replacement.  go on to the company website under services, and see if you can find anything about free battery installation.  (it's not there)  the free installation is an unofficial service that they do, but only if they are able to do it.  if you really want someone to change your battery for you, take it to a mechanic.
