Have been a customer of BBVA/Compass bank, for over 12 years and recently experienced absolutely horrendous and incompetent customer service by multiple individuals, via the customer service number, when attempting to dispute a fraudulent charge.

Not only were the individuals, at times, unhelpful and discourteous, they seemed to lack even basic knowledge on handling key components, regarding my type of service situation. There is a defensive and even slightly hostile attitude, these individuals have that is indicative of a corrupted corporate culture , at BBVA. It was a truly astonishing experience.

Be vindictive.  None of us work for the bank.  We all know, except you, how disputes work.  Your complaint is against customer service, which has no contact with the fraud or dispute resolution department.

When you post to a public website, you're liable to have the public not agree with your point of view.

Lame Rebuttal

Obviously, the Compass Bank damage control patrol, is out, in force. But failing miserably. If I shared details of my situation, I would lead many to ditch that discussing bank but I am not that vindictive, yet.

Incorrect

Your complaint is "valid and viable" from YOUR perspective.  You came to a PUBLIC web site and refused to post the details which would support your claim.  This leaves anyone reading this figuring that this is probably not a valid dispute.  Likely they saw your request wasn't "within reason" which gave you the result that you got.

Nothing you have shown here indicates they did anything wrong.

Wrong

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)

POSTED: Friday, February 07, 2020

Your complaint has nothng to do with the viability or validity of the fraudulent charge.  Your complaint has to do with the level of service provided by staff.  The questions were to ascertain the nature of the dispute and the staff's response - not the validity of your case.

The problem with your complaint is that the staff responsible for determining the validity of the charge do not work in customer service and they have very little interaction - largely - with that department.  There is a reason for that - they do not wish to compromise any of the cases in front of them.  So yes, they will be defensive because there is nothing they can share with you.  That isn't incompetence.  That is simply the way it works - period.  The fraud investigation department, or the equivalent, will be the only people who can discuss the case competently with you.

You evaded the questions and changed your name. If you had a valid complaint you would have provided details about the alleged fraudulent charge.

Your response tells us the customer service reps handled it appropriately.

Rebuttal

My complaint is valid and viable. It is not, ultimately, up to reps to agree or not agree. Within reason, the customer says so and that is that.

Two Questions

AUTHOR: coast - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 05, 2020

Your complaint lacks details. What are the circumstances of the fraudulent charge? Did the customer service reps agree or disagree with your claim that the charge was of a fraudulent nature?
