Doubt highly this will fix my problem but others need to be reminded. I purchased an Asus computer at best buy on 2/2010, I was told during that time from the sales lady I had their rewards zone and offered black tie. I asked her what that was? She said if anything happens to my PC it would be covered after the manufactures 1 year warranty. My receipts etc were given to me in a black cover clearly labeled "Black Tie Protection" I was made to assume my pc was covered as promised!
I researched before buying a new pc from Best Buy and picked Asus because of all the great reports from it. On 2/5/2012 almost to the year, my pc wont boot up, No hard disk found at all, no recovery can be used I mean nothing works at all to fix it. I took it in to Best Buy fantastic Geeks to look at it, a man I could barely understand looked at it. He insisted they could not fix it because the Hard Drive is gone, but for 200 dollars they would be happy to install a new one if I buy a new one right then from their store. I never had any issues with this pc until now, no warning it was going bad at all as claimed from many websites that explain warning signs of a bad HD like clicking or grinding noise etc. Nothing, it just died. Best Buy says I never purchased an extended warranty for my pc. I asked why then did the sales lady tell me what she did on 2/2010 and wrap all my
paperwork up in a Black Tie pamphlet? The man on the phone said they do that with all receipts now in case a customer wants to upgrade their service????? What crap! I am also shocked that Asus only gives a 1 year warranty on their products. What ever happened to standing behind what you build? Used to be, when you bought something it lasted for many years. Many sites will get this letter not just ripoffreport.com

Old news, Waste of report

AUTHOR: IntheKnow - (USA)

Laptops have one year warranties.

If you purchased any kind of service plan, it would be clear as day on your receipt.

A part failed.

A computer service (good or bad, for better or worse) told you the cost of repair

Ok, what else is new.

How many computers have you bought?

One year is the standard warranty for a computer. Has been for as long as I can recall. They always sell extended warranties if you are concerned about it. Perhaps you should have invested in an extended warranty from ASUS? as for your hard drive failing, that does happen. Quite often. I have a three year old machine that the hard drive just failed last month. No warning just dead. Last week my ASUS laptop decided it was going to die too, it is about a year and a half old. Hard drive went out on it, so I spent 70$ and put a new one in. Hard drives fail quite often, thats why you should always back up your data. As for asus standing by their products, they did not manufacture your hard drive it was a third party that did.
