Boat Wrench inc. (Mark Hull) sold a lower drive unit for a yamaha 115 - The unit was supposedly serviced and pressure tested. Upon installation there was an oil leak discovered that would have been eliminated and discovered during the supposed proper pressure test. Further inspection by a lic boat shop discovered additional potential problems. The shaft was frozen inside the unit and could not spin freely along with water and unmixed oil inside the unit.  Contact was made and a return of the unit followed with additional freight charges paid by the buyer which should have been the sellers responsibility due to faulty workmanship. The part was re-sealed and the unit was sent back in a poorly packaged box filled with garbage and papers. The item ended up damaged in the poorly packaged box- They re-used the original worn out box- that fed-x wont insure by doing so. The item came back damaged as fed-x dropped the box. Fed-x issued a call tag aand returned the item on their accord and said the seller must file a claim with them and reimburse the buyer.

They are refusing to reimburse me the buyer now because they did not properly package or insure the item and have no recourse with the shippers.

Boat wrench has made their inept repair, parts, packaging and business practices the customers problem now. The buyer is now out the cost of the part/s and three different shipping charges.

Not True FACTS- Buyers beware

(We at Boatwrench Inc. gave Patric **** the opportunity the get his repaired drive back after his shop took drive completly apart with out Boatwrench's OK to do so.))

NOT TRUE AT ALL-  SHOP SENT THE PARTS TO DO THE WORK TO RESEAL THE UNIT. IF IT WAS NOT AUTHORIZED WHY SEND THE RE_SEAL KIT????? THE UNIT WAS LEAKING OIL AND A RE-SEAL KIT REQUIRES TAKING THEM OUT TO FIX... So your statement is not valid.

((So after his shop took drive apart they could not reseal it and handed it back to him in pieces, in a box and said it was full of rust. ))

ANOTHER FALSE STATEMENT_ We never found rust either. What came out of the unit was water with fresh oil unmixed. The shaft would not turn smoothly inside the unit indicating further potential issues inside. When apprising you of the situation it was then sent back at your request.  It was partially apart, as it should be, no professional shop puts back together bad parts once apart for liability reasons. (which it sounds like may be a practice at your shop.  Buyers must be warned!!. The $500 for the unit and the additional shipping costs back to you)

The bottom line is you sold a product that was not as described.              Costs and charges are well worth all the warnings and reviews I can do- if it keeps anyone else from further harm. The BBB closed the case when they did all they can to arbitrate without further court action which is still an option until you come up with a solution and a stop for all the negative reviews you will accumulate across the internet ( which will continue). Good news travels slow but bad news travels fast.... YOU STILL HAVE THE UNIT AND MY MONEY- People need to know that after 7 months time.  You mentioned a refund and you should do it now... I think that you don't is because you know it is damaged, and want to pawn it off.

Lower Unit Complaint

AUTHOR: Mark Hull - (United States of America)

We at Boatwrench Inc. gave Patric **** the opportunity the get his repaired drive back after his shop took drive completly apart with out Boatwrench's OK to do so. We sell alot of parts through the country and some shops have a problem with customers getting parts for there repairs. So after his shop took drive apart they could not reseal it and handed it back to him in pieces, in a box and said it was full of rust.

We got drive back with NO RUST and resealed @ no labor charge ($392.00) and shipped back. The customer did pay for shipping and seal kit since we did not authorize his shop to take unit apart. After resealing the drive we shipped it drive back and it was damaged (small chip out of cavation plate) in transit to him by shipping company. The damage in shipping would not have caused a problem for Patricks short boating season.

I told him to use drive for his short boating season then we would fix it in the winter time for him. In stead he sent drive back . We told him we could fix the cosmetic chip in cavation plate and ship back. At this point Patrick called BBB and we resolved this complant with the BBB to there satisfaction. Patrick drive is still here but he refuses to take drive. Drive was bought AS IS. We at Boatwrench have done all we can do for this customer.

We have now filed a complaint with the BBB and also the IRC in conjunction with the EBAY authorities.

Hopefully this will get enough attention to keep another customer from falling victim. Boat Wrench has made every excuse as to why this particular purchase is not their problem, but it amounts to fraud in the end. It has been since February 10th 2012 that we purchased the lower unit and have tried to maintain contact with this company. It started with Un-returned phone calls, then excuses, to now lies.

They have the (broken part) (and money paid) still and it is now Aug 8th 2012.  What kind of company does business like this?

BAD ONES.
