Byrons a nice guy. I wish he didn't work for this shop. I had these guys do a brake job for me, they resurfaced the rotors, and drums, put the ubber expensive ceramic pads on. Total job was $430.00I bring it back 60 days into the 90 warranty which explicity states it covers all parts and labor on it's jobs. Quote from the reciept:

"Brake Masters warrants its parts and labor for 90 days from date of repair."

So the brake job was shoddy, the pads were squeeky, generally noisy, and the brakes felt uneven, and or warped within a few days of the work being done. When I bring the car back for warranty service they say I need to put new rotors and drums on. It cost a lot of money for those parts to be resurfaced by them, and they would not stand by the job they did, if they are indeed warped. I really don't think they were, but they tend to describe the rotors and drums as something that wears down faster than a brake pad. I know much better than that. They wanted to charge me over $100 per drum and rotor for the tune of another $500. Round trip who ever heard of a $1000 dollar brake job on a japanese commuter vehicle? I had them put my tires back on and left the shop, warranty on the parts and labor completely ignored, Byron says, "Yeah, well, that only covers the brake pads." Sorry guys, you lost a customer, any referal, and will urge anyone I know in life and on the net to not visit a brake masters for anything and am considering suing small claims for the cost for the first job which was done improperly, and warranty not honored.

Problem resolved!

In addition to informing readers of the ripoff report, I had also sent a copy to Brake Masters headquarters through their website, and they are listening! The next day I recieved a nice message from Sal one of their General Managers who assured me the Brake Masters I went to did not live up to the companies guarentee and they offered to have me go to another Brake Masters (or even another shop) to have the problem brakes fixed.

I gave them a chance to fix it, which is only fair, took it to Brake Masters Santa Monica location on Lincoln blvd. and had a significantly better experience. They were absolutely more professional, friendly, and best of all they made good on the warranty and my brakes are now functioning like brakes! I'm really quite happy that the company was willing to step up and take responsibility in a freindly and professional manner. They are concerned about their customers, and I would encourage anyone who has a problem at any Brake Masters location to use the website to tell them, or give them a call. While the whole situation was aggravating, time consuming, and unnecessary, I am extremely pleased that in this day and age when most businesses would just as soon write the customer off, Brake Masters DID NOT write me off and did their due diligence to fix the problem. So...THANK YOU for that Brake Masters. I would still not recomend the Studio City shop to anyone, but I will recomend the Santa Monica shop as the Brake Masters experience there was a lot more professional, and left satisfied with brakes that worked.
