I donated $200 to a GoFundMe page called "WeFundTheWall". The page claimed they were collecting money to build a wall. They stated they had a contact in the Trump administaration and had a bill to be passed to make sure donations went to the wall. Brian Kolfage even used a private donation to the Washinton Monument as an example. He said if the goal (1 Billion) was not reached he would refund.

Things got shady. Brian Kolfage removed the promise to refund and later sent us emails (many) asking us to switch our donation to his non-profit. He did NOT say what kind of non-profit it was, but I later found out he filed for a 501 C3. That type of non-profit allows HALF the money to be donated to a politician of his choice and has the least amount of acccountability. We also cannot write off our donations.

I got even more angry when I asked Brian Kolfage on Twitter who was doing the construction, when was the building starting and he blocked me. I had given him our money! I saw other people offering him FREE construction help and complianing they were being ignored.

My worst fears were confirmed when I googled him and found out he had done this many times before. He did many past GoFundMe pages with one thing in common: they had a LOT of donations, but no one even recieved the donations and they all said he pocketed the money.

I clicked on the hashtag #BrianKolfage and it led to MANY complaints of other donors being blocked, questions ignored and more. Someone posted a link to his Instagram page and his wife (Ashley Kolfage) and this is what is featured:

  • Expensive Vacations to Vegas, LA, Bahamas, Turkey and many other places
  • Meals at restaurants
  • Brian having an outdoor place to watch TV built
  • Stays at 5 star hotels
  • Private home rentals
  • His wife shopping for things my wife said cost thousands
  • Private plane trips (even to a wedding?)
  • His expensive cars
  • A custom boat
  • A FREE House
  • A custom build pool with slide
  • and so much more

I felt stupid for not seeing this earlier. I also saw links to Facebook and twitter messages. Brian Kolfage had been taking people's money and also doing cyber terrorism. He had harassed an elderly lady with cancer and several other people.

I came to the conclusion this is a person who uses his disability and his vet status to do whatever he wants. It seems that since he lost his legs, he feels bitter and like we all owe him.

I asked for my money back through 5 emails, all were ignored. I did get several emails asking for MORE donation money and to ask my friends to donate and to spread the link. I went to one of his facebook pages to try and contact him. ALL my posts asking about a refund were ignored.

I did take note that people were asking where to mail money to and they would respond with an address that was in Colorado. I asked why people were mailing checks to Colorado when he lives in Florida and I was blocked from posting on the page. I also noted my refund requests were deleted.

I then tried using my wife Twitter and Facebook. I posted on Facebook and Twitter asking where I could mail a donation and was immediately contacted back with information to send Brian Kolfage more money. When I asked about a refund? I was instanly deleted and blocked again.

GoFundTheWall and Brian Kolfage are one huge scam. I reported them to every agency I can. They have NO way to keep their promise to build a wall. They do not have the resources, the money or even the legal right to build.

I should have done my research. I just did not think a wounded vet would do this to people.

FAKE FAKE FAKE!

AUTHOR: We Build The Wall, Inc. - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 23, 2019

My name is Brian Kolfage and I find myself spending way too much time responding to anti-Trump and anti-border security leftist fanatics.  That said, I respect the work that Ripoff Report does and believe that many other people do too.  Therefore I am taking the time to respond point-by-point to this basher’s plain and obvious fake report. Hopefully when you are through reading my response, you will agree that his or her statements are not only without credibility, but logically and blatantly false.

It is true that originally, I set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to donate to the US. Government to build a wall along our Southern Border because Congress wasn’t supporting what our President and most Americans want-Border Security.

I admit that when I created the page in late December 2018 I was naïve about the process and mistakenly thought that I could raise the money and earmark the funds for border wall construction similar to what others had done to restore the Washington Monument.  I soon found out that although one can donate and direct contributions to the Trust for the National Mall for specific purposes like the restoration of the Washington Monument, it doesn’t work that way for contributions to the Federal Government itself.  Instead, money that is gifted or donated to the Federal Government must be used to pay down the deficit unless Congress specifically legislates otherwise.  Although we discussed this possibility with many legislators and consultants in Washington, we quickly came to the conclusion that our Congress was not going specifically legislate the private funding of a wall along our Southern Border.

After consulting with lawyers and experts on the subject, we came to the conclusion that the best way to insure that the donations I raised on GoFundMe would go to building a wall along our Southern Border, would be to form a 501(c)(4) nonprofit company and accept donations in this entity (WeBuildTheWall, Inc, is not a 501(c)(3) as the basher reports).

On January 11, 2019, GoFundMe decided, that due to the change in beneficiary designation (from the Federal Government to a 501(c)(4) whose purpose is to privately fund the building of a border wall) that each donor, including this fine individual that wrote this Ripoff Report, would receive a refund of his or her donation, UNLESS THE DONOR AFFIRMATIVELY OPTED IN AND DIRECTED GOFUNDME TO TRANSFER HIS OR HER CONTRIBUTION TO THE NEW CAMPAIGN RECIPIENT-WeBuildTheWall, Inc. That is, each and every one of the over 340,000 donors that made combined donations of over $20M would have to go back into his or her GoFundMe account and expressly tell GoFundMe to transfer his or her donation to WeBuildTheWall, Inc. WeBuildTheWall, Inc. did not receive any funds whatsoever from GoFundMe prior to January 11, 2019. In fact, if a donor did not affirmatively click the opt in button, the money was not transferred to WeBuildTheWall, Inc.  After 90 days (which period has just expired), those donors who did not opt in or specifically opt out (only approximately 5% of all donors), have had their donations refunded to them.

SO IF THE BASHER ACTUALLY MADE A DONATION, HE OR SHE SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED HIS $200 BACK.  Neither WeBuildTheWall, Inc. nor I had any control over the donations unless a donor actually opted in.  That is why we know this post is completely fabricated. We had no control over the money, GoFundMe did. So our friend here should have received his refund if he ever actually made a contribution.  If any donor didn’t receive their refund, they should contact GoFundMe immediately.

Based on the facts, it is clear that this Ripoff Report is completely fabricated. We doubt that the basher ever contributed to the campaign because anyone who did not want to participate could get his or her donation refunded by opting out and, if they did nothing, would receive a full refund after 90 days from January 11, 2019.

Every individual that contributed to the We Fund the Wall or We Build The Wall that sought a refund after the change of beneficiary designation has received a refund or GoFundMe is in the process of refunding the donations directly to those donors. That process has always been completely out of our hands. Again, WeBuildTheWall only received the donation from GoFundMe if the donor actually opted in.

To set the record straight, I have taken no salary or received any distributions whatsoever from the donations collected for building the border wall nor will I, its written into our corporate by laws, an we have an internal and eexternal audit commitee.

I have many business interests including Military Grade Coffee that fund my personal activities and was fortunate to receive a life estate in a home purchased for me and my family by the Gary Sinise Foundation’s Rise Program. This was a life changing event for me and my family and predates any involvement with campaign to build a border wall.

The basher cited me and my wifes Instagram accounts, but failed to mentnion all the things they stated were pictures and events from before the Gofunme was even started, some even years ago. Accrording to Buzzfeed I got "rich" from running a news website. They say "rich" but really it's wealthy. I'm sorry that you feel a triple amputee cant be suceesful in life, or maybe the basher is just jealous that a guy with no legs and arm made a very sucesfull life after losing so much.

I am honored to have served my country and blessed that many have supported me and my family after my injury. I will not waste any more time on addressing the personal attacks against me or legitimize this huckster in anyway by responding to him or her as though the libelous remarks carry weight or authenticity.  If you don’t trust me, just go to the GoFundMe website where you can independently verify for yourself all of the above.

Our board consists of President Trump's right hand man Steve Bannon, Kris Kobach (In running For DHS Secrtary), Sheriff David Clarke, Dr. Robert S. Spalding III, Brig Gen, USAF (Ret), Erik Prince (Blackwater), Curt Schilling (Red Sox World Series Champ), Tom Tancredo (US Rep Colorado)

Now tell me, would these guys publicly back a scam? Case dismissed!

God Bless America  Brian Kolfage
