January 2011- Glenda Marie Young introduced herself as a condo owner in  the Scottsdale area who had a condo for rent during the March 2011 Spring Training season. I had placed an ad on Craigslist in the Phoenix asking for information concerning a rental for a specific time period. Glenda told me they had a cancellation for the month and were trying to rent the unit. I was supplied pictures and given a price. The next day I investigated the owner John McCune and Cactus Pro Properties with the BBB in Phoenix but could not find any negative information either there or on the web. I offered to pay for the unit in full with a refundable security deposit and cleaning fee. It totaled 1275.00 and I agreed to pay by PayPal. I figured they would cover me in case of fraud.

I had some concerns about the photos and asked for more, they reluctantly posted some on the web. I preceded to sign a rental agreement, and send payment.

I didn't hear anything from them until one week preceding my departure. That's when the real problem set in. I asked repeatedly for information on how to enter the condo, and was simply ignored. We spoke a couple of times by phone and he expressed concern with my uneasiness about not getting any information. I asked for a refund,  and was told one would be forthcoming. Even with a personal call from a Paypal fraud consultant, John McCune cut off communication with me, and has not supplied information on claiming my condo or the keys to enter.

The first time I spoke with Mr McCune (if that is his real name), I told him about the fraud alert and he said it was from a customer who had a vendetta against him and that she was wrong to file suck a report.  I again asked for a refund, and he told me "I will make this right".  Paypal is investigating and most likely will discontinue his privileges on the web site service.

I'm sure after this report, he will most likely change the name of his business, and get onto Paypal using another name and account. It appears that the condo, while may physically exist, does not belong to these individuals, or is not under their control. Buyer Beware.

I never had any contact with the female individual who contacted me. John McCune presents himself as a decent guy, who doesn't want to give you problems. Very smooth con man. He will even call you and tell you if he was on not on the level, why should he call you or return your calls. All a front to deceive you.
