Following up on another persons complaint (Phil from Aliso Viejo, CA) about Chris Tanner.  I was also a victim of one of his scams and as I have now found out from covers.com members, we are not the only ones and that he done these scams on many many other people over the years.  Speaking with some members about his past, he has a notorious reputation as one of the most low life scam artists on the site.

I setup a gaming account through Chris with 247sportswagering.com.  He posed as an agent for the site,  I sent him $300 through moneygram to have the account setup with a credit limit.  He even gave me a bonus where I get a free bet for the same amount as the deposit.  I assumed an agent working for this website would be trustworthy but I came to find out that these agents are not employees of the website.  Any person can setup an agent account with these websites if they pay a fee.  They pay a service fee to 247sportswagering in order to setup an agent account with the site and can then setup player accounts for their customers and act as a independant bookie.  But these sites do not accept responsibility for the agents that they allow to use their site.

As the previous victim mentioned in his report, he also offered me an entry into his football pool for $200.  He also told me his friend had a Michael Jordan Bulls jersey from when he made the shot over Craig Ehlo.  He said his friend was selling it for $6000 and wanted to know if I was interested.  He was trying to get more money from me every which way.  Fortunately I didnt go for anything he offered.

We agreed upon weekly settlements every monday.  If I lost money for that week, I would send a payment on monday to him and we start with a fresh balance.  And vice versa if I were to win.

After 1 week, I won about $1000 and I contacted him on monday and he said he would pay me out the next day.  He insisted I give him my bank account # in order to just make straight deposits into there but I felt uncomfortable giving a stranger my account number and told him I would rather do money gram.  Good thing I didnt, I dont even know what he was planning on doing with it but Im sure it would have not been a good thing for me.  So he agreed to send the money by moneygram.  Thats when I started getting excuse after excuse from Chris.  He said there was a thunderstorm on 2 seperate days and I checked the weather report for his city, it was clear skies and 80 degrees.  He told me that he went to send the moneygram but there machines were broken, he tried to send it online but they didnt provide a money transfer number.  Blah Blah Blah.  He could have just stopped answering my calls and wasting my time on top of my money but it was as if he actually enjoyed feeding me lies and steering me on down this road with no end.

I called him out on his scam and he had the nerve to get mad at me for such an accusation.  I told him what I thought of him and that I would not just ignore what he has done to me(and many others).  He threatened back by saying that I would be hearing from his lawyer (probably the same friend of his he used to scare the previous victim who was ripped off).

His scam was that if you lost money, he would expect payment from you.  But if you won money you would never be paid.  I fell for it but I hope that this will prevent others for falling for the same trap and eventually putting a stop to Chris Tanner's scams.
