This is text pasted word-for-word from the case I just filed with the Central Ohio Better Business Bureau.

On 3/1/10, I won an item on eBay, sold by Logan Community Thrift & Consignment in Logan, OH. The item is a board game centered on Tarot cards and astrology.

I paid for the item a few days later. When I made my payment, I indicated that I needed the item to be shipped via USPS. My invoice indicated the item would go USPS, and the auction indicated this as well.

Roughly two weeks later, I came home to a delivery attempt notice on my apartment door. The item actually went FedEx Ground. I had to drive 45 miles round-trip to pick up a $10.00 item.

I waited for a few days, and then contacted the seller to express my disappointment that 1) she did not use the shipping method indicated on the invoice, 2) picking up the item was a huge hassle for me and she should have checked with me before switching shipping methods), and 3) I wanted to leave negative feedback for her on eBay, but I did not want to do so without addressing the issues with her first. I did not indicate that I wanted a refund in my initial email to Candy; all I wanted was an apology for the inconvenience. In addition to the shipping hassles, I told her that the item is not new or mint as described in the auction listing; the item has stains all around the box, smells musty, and cannot be used for its intended purpose. (She did state the following in one of her emails to me: "You were expecting some kind of compensation on a $10 item because of a cosmetic issue on the box of all places..." First of all, the box is the most important part for something like this. Second, this is admitting the item was damaged.)

On 3/15/10, the seller initiated a series of hostile responses that simply did not stop, and still continue. The following email, sent 3/15/10, pretty much sums up her attitude towards customer service:

"Yes, now I have an attitude and you're going to hear it. Get over it. Leave all the negative you wish as I don't really care. We're sick and tired of demanding, impossible to please sellers (I believe she meant buyers) so we now have a policy of not giving a crap when it comes to dealing with them. We have recently in the past 3 months opened a Thrift Store in a town that badly needed it because we were getting sick of ebay's 'protect the buyer only' policies and it has surprisingly exceeded our expectations pulling in over $1,000 a day. Now I list about 1/4 the items I used to on this site so I could really care less buddy. Go back to your fairy tale astrology and tarot cards and leave to real world issues to people that actually have a clue and READ something when instructed. You'll buy anything won't you. LOL"

And yes, she did include the "LOL." Thanks, Candy Conner, for insulting my spiritual practices.

This morning, 3/18/10, I told her I could no longer handle her excessive, abusive emails and she responded with the following statement: "What you don't understand is that we have a recent legal binding transaction together so I have all the right in the world to contact you, ESPECIALLY when I'm attempting to work something out that would be mutually beneficial." According to this woman, she can continue to harass me weeks after I paid for an item that is no longer in her posession. I can only hope she does not treat her walk-in customers the same way.

Her emails continue to this hour and I am considering reporting her to her local authorities so they can issue a cease and desist or restraining order. She is literally harassing me for no reason (my end of the transaction has been completed). It is actually detrimental to my quality of life at this point.

This eBay transaction and Logan Community Thrift & Consignment are NOT affiliated with each other!

First of all this report was filed by:

Megan (((REDACTED)))

Secondly, this transaction has nothing to do with Logan Community Thrift & Consignment.  This transaction took place on eBay and was done so from my home.  This report has my home address & phone number listed within it, as well as the eBay account information.  Ms. Bridgeman is one of those buyers that no matter what you do you can not please them.  I offered MULTIPLE TIMES FOR HER TO RETURN THE ITEM FOR A REFUND AND SHE REFUSED!  She filed a eBay and PayPal complaint and both were also closed by her stating the issue was resolved.  The resolution offered was to return the item for a refund.  However, she also fails to mention the fact that these emails were not the initial ones sent.  They were sent after MANY PROFANE VULGAR emails from her with various types of threats enclosed.  However, unlike Ms. Bridgeman, I do not feel the need to bring them to the public eye.  This rebuttal is simply to clarify that the business she is slandering has NEVER DONE ANY TYPE OF BUSINESS WITH THIS INDIVIDUAL.  This is a locally run business that does not do any type of internet sales, including eBay, Craigslist or e-commerce.  This buyer lives in Wisconsin and the store is located in Ohio.

Lastly auction clearly indicated that the item could go fedex and Ms. Bridgeman could have simply refused the item and had it returned.  In no way did I force her to drive 45 minutes to pick the item up or she could have simply had someone there to get the item when the driver arrived.  Fedex will let all customers know approximately when the driver will be in that area.  Ms. Bridgeman failed to read the auction and is now placing blame for her incompetence.  Had she sent a simple email letting us know that she would not be available for fedex and to please ship it only by USPS we would have been more that happy to accomodate her request.  However, she waited until the issue arose and then complained.  Guess we're all not the psychic she claims to be! (Sorry I couldn't help myself, but this has gone too far over something as trivial as a poor decision she CHOSE to make).  Below is copied and pasted directly from the auction to further prove that it was indeed indicated and that her reports are in the least, absurd.

We ship with 2 carriers (USPS and FedEx) and sometimes Greyhound and reserve the right to switch to the one that provides the best service for what you paid.  So even though the calculator may say USPS, it may indeed go FedEx, but thankfully they treat packages better and offer a better service.
