Delta Auto Protect Con Artist Philadelphia Pennsylvania

I purchased a service warranty from Delta Auto Protect for my 2012 Dodge Journey. Prior to purchasing the warranty I did some research about them but apparently not enough. I notice that the consumer affairs reviews were top heavy with 5 star ratings for DAP. But there seemed to be a common thread for all of these 5 star ratings. All of those claims were for repair and replacement of small parts that didn't amount to more than a few hundred bucks at the most. Subsequently, my transmission started to fail and when I submitted the claim I was told that I had to produce all maintenance documents related and non-related to them for evaluation. I have a vehicle that I purchased 2nd hand and I do my own basic maintenance such as oil filter changes and the like. So I couldn't come of with any quote unquote documentation for this. As for the transmission, I wasn't keeping up with the mileage for maintenance on that. So There! That's where they got me! Sorry Sir...you cannot prove to us that you serviced this transmission in the past 15,000 miles. Oh...really?...I wasn't hawkish about that mileage dial. And who the hell periodically services a transmission anyway unless they break down. Cool...cold rejection of a costly claim. The irony of it all is that when they advertise or pitch their service contract, they emphasize covering the costly repairs like the engine, drive train and transmission. But if you miss an oil change or transmission flush...that is their back door for dodging your claim. If you're thinking...well it was partly my fault for not maintaining...then yes I can share some of that blame. But if you're an average Joe or Jane like myself and you're thinking you're buying a security blanket with these auto service warranty people...think again. If you're not hawkish about routine, not so routine car maintenance and maintaining detailed ledgers of everything you do to it, you're gonna get burned by these people. Trust me...they're banking on it!
