Discount Surgical Stockings Hosed me Brooklyn New York

I purchased one pair of compression thigh highs from Discount Surgical Stockings on line last summer and was told they were delivered August 10. On that day I was hospitalized, returned home August 12 and did not receive the product but was charged.

A couple of weeks later, I realized I had never received the garment and was told it would be reshipped allowed time for the stockings to be returned to them.  I recontacted the company in October to let them know that I still had not received the item. I sent multiple e-mails and left numerous messages but got no response until very recently (approximately 3 weeks ago).

Now the company tells me that it's too late for me to be sent the garment because I waited too long to let them know I hadn't received it (when, in fact, I notified them in early September and several times after that). They also said that the order was delivered by USPS. It may very well have been delivered, but it wasn't delivered to me!

My family has lived at this address since 1972. My house is in a very settled, stable neighborhood that has had NO criminal activity. I have never had a piece of mail stolen, and I don't believe this item was stolen from my mailbox. It may have been destroyed in transit, lost by USPS, or delivered to the wrong person.

Wherever the package went, I am 100% certain that it was not put in my mailbox. The garment cost me $28.95. I never received it, and the company refuses to replace it , to give me a credit OR to refund my money.  I have never dealt with such a rip-off, unreasonable, company on line.

I ordered a pair of compression socks from another company. A few months later I found a hole in one of the socks, reviewed the product and told the company that the tear was probably caused by pulling on the socks too hard (admittedly my fault). Customer service told me not to bother returning the socks, and I was shipped a replacement pair free of charge. THAT'S good customer service.

I worked for several years for a catalog hosiery and undergarment company, and we ALWAYS refunded or replaced items under these circumstances.

Even though the dollar amount is only $28.95, I hate to think about others being ripped off in this way, so I felt that I needed to file this complaint.  I promised Discount Surgical Stockings that I would do my absolute best to expose their unfair business practices to other consumers.  It is absolutely ridiculous to refuse to reship an item that was never received.

In e-mailing and speaking with customer service at Discont Surgical Stockings, I was robotically informed, "We show that the order was received at your address."  (It was NOT sent by any special method that would have given them a return receipt, so I'm not sure how they showed it was received.)  Obviously, it was NOT received, or I would not be going to all this trouble to inform other consumers about this rigid, unethical, uncaring company.  

So much for "the customer is always right."  That motto has been totally trashed by Discount Surgical Stockings.
