In July of 2012 I came across Driver Solutions, a company that promised CDL training and a job after said training.

After many discussions with my recruiter - I was assigned to C1 Fort Wayne as my school and I would be starting on August First.

I had done plenty of research on Driver Solutions. Yes, I did find this site in my research, but at the same time, I found a lot of good stories about them. I decided it was worth the shot.

So, on Aug. 1, I was in Fort Wayne waiting in line for my medical examination to get my DOT medical card. I was called in to the office, where my weight, eyesight, etc. were checked and I was given a whiz quiz.

Shortly afterwards the medical examiner say that we can't give you your medical card because you are 30 pounds overweight. She handed me a BMI chart with my weight bracket highlighted and I was told to go home.

As I found out a few weeks later, this happened to another member of my family -BUT- this family member decided to lose the weight and go back. They came up with a different reason when he went back, and denied him his card again.

Not once was I offered reimbursement for my travel expenses (Charleston, WV to Ft. Wayne, IN is 340 miles.) I spent over 100 dollars in gas, plus about 20 to get school supplies.

If I was overweight then why are there truckers 3 times the size I am? Why has everyone I told about this believe that I was cheated out of a career opportunity?

I'm not sure to blame Driver Solutions or the State of Indiana, but either way, it falls back on Driver Solutions because they don't have any weight requirements posted on their site.

I will not be going back to try again. I've been given an opportunity to get my CDL 100 percent absolutely free with a local company.
