Make sure your company doesn’t have material issues or else the partners at GreenHills Ventures will not waste their time taking your calls or responding to your emails. We discussed how to manage companies which play these games and have required them to stop wasting valuable time and money for not disclosing proper information. They incur significant expenses going into an investment far in excess of the amount any company can imagine. We have been investors alongside GreenHills Ventures and other VC’s for many years. As a Family Office we invest in several companies in the health and digital connected technology field for the last 19 years with the last 11 years resulting in 2 acquisitions one by HP and the most recent FinTech mobile platform to PayPal which Greenhills Ventures was the lead and introduced to PayPal. Our two companies received an investment from GreenHills Ventures because they kept us focused on achieving our milestones which resulting in increased valuation at the time of the acquisition. I was a believer in traditional VC investment until my first company was destroyed by two major VC’s. Never once did I make disparaging remarks about them despite the outcome. We learned some, not all, VC’s created an environment of premature and unnecessary spending which created a further dependency on going back to them resulting in major dilution and losing control of the company only to see it go down in flames due to poor strategic decisions no matter how well intended. As a good and disciplined founder / CEO and can prove my experience by executing on or plan and achieving company milestones as long as it’s fair and reasonable. My partnership with GreenHills Ventures has been the best so far and while my last company would have seen a better valuation if we kept it for another 2 years we all agreed it was a good time to sell the company to a larger company with more capabilities and depth to take it to the next level.
