I worked here for more than a year and it got so bad. I started taking care of 9 patients or residences as they are called there. the day I left I was taking care of 22 by my self. not only did they fill up the rooms fast but they started putting total care residences in the assisted living community.

So the last week this was my schedule. I got there at 6:00 AM and started dressing them, putting in teeth, hearing aids, wigs, washing their faces, getting them in their wheelchairs, changing incontenent people, and getting them to the resteraunt by 8:00. I was in the resteraunt till 9:30 serving them breakfast, sitting with the ones that needed to be fed. It is just me and the cook still at the facility. The management come to work at 10:00 and would be in meetings for at least an hour while I wheeled them to their rooms, to their activites, changed their depends, and had to clear all the dishes from the dinning room. That is a day if everything goes well.

This was one of the days... We had a new resident who needed a shower every morning, it takes at least 1/2 hour to get him out of bed, take him to relieve himself, change his ostomy bag, get him in the shower, shampoo his har, lotion his skin, dress him, shave him and bring him to the dining room. We do have radios so the residences could call to ask if they needed something. I had 4 residences call to say they needed to go to the bathroom, I could not leave this new resident un attended in the shower so they soiled themselves while I gave the man a shower. One had explocive diarrea and was all over the walls and rug, I had to leave the room like that and clean it up later. of course the family members came to visit that morning and were pretty upser, when i told them it is me with 22 residences they were shocked, they pay $3200 per month for virtually no care they took their mom out of there the next day and brought her to a home that had 4 patients and 1 aide.

Another day...I was dressing a woman and her leg got caught under the electrical chair she was driving, she was on cumadin, a blood thinner, and was bleeding profusly. I called the other building, memory care, to come help, I had no keys to the medical supplies they dont even have a first aid kit that is handy. All locked up because they think the staff are stealing band aids. They would not answer their phone. I ran to the cook to tell her to get the Q-map stat. It took a while but she came with the other girl that was at memmory care. they were both attending this lady while I was getting the residences up. I found out later that a girl called off at memmory care and noone was in that building for at least 40 minutes. luckily noone got hurt over there but to leave 18 alzheimer patients alone is crazy.

Q-Maps...the ones that pass out the medicines have a 16 hour training at a school and then are supposed to have at least 5 days of training on the floor. They usually get 1/2 day or a full day at the most. there have been so many med mistakes it blows my mind that more residences have not gotten seriouslly injured. they pass meds at the dinning room and leave to get more. They dont watch them take ther pills a few time other patients see the pills and take them. I have found pills on the floors, pills stuck in ears in memmory care, and 1 time I was rincing the dishes and found 8 pills in their container on a plate of scrambled eggs.

Worker Injuries are so prevelent there. In the 1 year I worked thereI saw 4 of my co-workers get pemanent life changing injuries. One hurt her shoulder and had to have surgery, the surgery did not work and had to get another one they fired her before the company had to pay the premiums, One young girl has permanent nerve dammage, she cant even bend down to pick up her 2 year old son. With every injury they have go to court for them to pay dissability. In fact there are 4 lawsuits on workers comp issues.

The highest skilled position there is an LPN. they do not have RN's there. The turnover rate is so high, I saw 3 executive directors, 2 financial directors, 2 marketing directors and 2 head shefs, the only managers that stayed was the maintenence supervisor and the activities director.

Do not have your loved ones live there and dont work there. it will just drag you down or you could have a permanent back problems for the rest of your life.
