Recently my wife and I decided that we wanted to adopt a child. It was a long, difficult decision making process, and we were excited when we found an organization called Everlasting Adoptions to help us.

The director of Everlasting Adoptions, Carol Shepherd, reached out to us quickly after we contacted them. She offered us support and assistance and was very helpful.

And then we paid $8,700 for their services.

It was a good long time before we heard anything from them again. After nearly nine thousand dollars, you'd think they could spend some time talking with us, right?

After over a year of little contact and absolutely no work on their part, we got serious about finding our own birthmother. In the end, we found our own birthmother without any assistance from EA, although they still got to keep the money we paid them up front.

If you are considering adoption, please please please do not pay for their services. Carol will sweet talk you into paying the fee, but they are not worth the expense. If not for that fee, our adoption would have only cost six thousand dollars. However, it ended up being nearly fifteen thousand in the end.

Companies like this charge exorbitant fees, and they will tell you that it is okay because the adoption tax credit will pay you back for your costs at tax time. That is an excuse to rob hopeful adoptive parents of their hard earned money. Don't fall for it.

This company has very little contact with you after they get your money. They're all sweet and genuine until they can't get you what they promised and they drop you like a hot potato. They may be able to help other couples get a child but they were very unprofessional with us and should be ashamed of themselves. Two and a half years of money, heart, and soul for what? Nothing.

Everlasting Adoptions

AUTHOR: Jami - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, July 28, 2012

We are getting ready to adopt our second child through Everlasting Adoptions. When it came to which agency to go through, we didn't even give it a second thought when it was time to start the process again. Our first child took eleven months from the time we signed on with Everlasting until she was ours forever. This second time has taken a bit longer, it will be a little less than sixteen months.

The first time, Carol even called me while she was on vacation to make sure everything went ok when my daughter was born. She has always been good about getting back to me when I ask for updates and when I need her to do something for me. I can't think of any time she didn't come through when I needed her.

I belong to two adoptive parent groups and everyone talks about how hard the wait is. Not knowing when you will be chosen and if the match will turn out is hard on anyone. Carol has always been willing to listen to my frustration and as an adoptive mom herself, she gets it. That makes the wait a bit easier, but it's still just a hard time that almost every adoptive parent goes through.

Two years of crap is still crap

AUTHOR: AdoptionHopeful - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, July 19, 2012

For those who asked about the two year service agreement, we were notified around the 1 year mark that our profiles were not even being passed out, despite them asking us to pay to ship them even more photo books just a week before. We expected service for our money, but we received none.

If we had waited another year, it would not have changed anything. Once we found out they were not interested in doing any work to help us find a child, we were not willing to wait for yet another year before we started looking ourselves.

If there had been even a tiny bit of effort put into the experience that we could observe, that could have changed everything. When they point blank told us that they were not giving out our materials, that was when we decided we wanted nothing more to do with this organization.

If I promise you two years of service and ignore you for the first year, how likely would you be to wait another 365 days for me to actually do something? Not very likely, that's for sure.

Carol and Everlasting Adoptions Are Miracle Workers

AUTHOR: Tracy - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 06, 2012

I am saddened that someone would even write something like this about Everlasting Adoptions or Carol. Carol is not a sweet talker; she is genuinely sweet and caring.  She is an adoptive mom, and she does want to place a baby in everyone's hands.  I'm sure it's not easy trying to find birthmothers for prospective parents, and now that this negative comment was written, it could make it even harder.  Don't let one comment make your decision.

We contacted Everlasting Adoptions back in April of 2009 and fell in love with her and her company.  We knew this was the right thing to do.  The money that you pay is for all the advertising and hard work Everlasting Adoptions does to find birthmothers, and you do get the money back with the adoption tax credit. We were matched just a few months after our first conversation, and then
had our son in October 2009.  It only took us 5 months, and that surprised us because we were prepared to wait longer.

We knew adoption could take awhile.  It all depends on who you are and what the birthmothers are looking for.  Carol was always kind, caring, and amazing when we talked to her.  She would answer our every question and would pick up the phone any time we called her.  Everlasting Adoptions is a miracle and does whatever it can to make your dreams of a family come true.

Our son is two and half years old now, and we are so blessed.  We feel like Carol is part of our family.  People need to be patient with the process; it will happen.  I know many people who have adopted with Everlasting Adoptions and have had success.  There is a reason for everything, and sometimes things take longer than usual, but that's no reason to put down a company that
is doing something amazing for so many people.

It really hurts to read this because, like I mentioned before, I feel like Carol and Everlasting Adoptions are part of our family, and they do not deserve that.  If you are curious about this company, I'm willing to talk with you, as well.  They have my contact information; please request it from them, and I will be happy to give you more reassurance.  I hope this report doesn't ruin Everlastings dream of building families.  We believe in you Carol, and you and your company are amazing!
