I joined this company with great hope for a long term career. I knew it was going to be a problem when they missed my first pay check. The "acccountant" Lisa lied over and over about how it was my banks direct deposit issues, (My bank said she never even tried to set-up a direct deposit) Lisa also said "I gave the wrong mailing address," that it can take 5 days to get to me in the mail HOUSTON to HOUSTON. Just a nightmare to get paid.

Next came the "training." You're taught 3 or 4 different pricing structures and the more you can scam, the more money you make. On each product tag was a price, but also disguised as simple random numbers were 2 or 3 other prices. You started out at the highest price and hopefully sold for that or more. If the customer wasn't happy with that price then you came down from possibly 200 percent profit to as low as 10% profit. Sales tax is even built into the price but they encouraage you to add it 2 or 3 times additionally and pocket the money.Which I do understand negotiations, but making a small amount off one person, then say an old couple comes in and trust you, you can charge well above even full retail. They call this "banking it" which can amount to thousands of dollars extra that the customer didn't need to pay. They also claim free labor, free installation, free furniture moving, all that is built into the price, it's not free and all supposedly backed by a lifetime warranty. The only problem with that is they have only been around for 3 years. I could see this claim if they had been around for say 30 years, like other flooring companies. The so called owners, aside from their "lawyer" investor, came from flooring companies that went out of business. Not a good sign in my opinion.

They are on Angies list which is their claim to being a trusted vendor. The only issue is all the sales people are forced to plant their own reviews, tons of them. Most customer's who give them a good review are paid for their reviews. This is also happens on Yelp and several other vendor rating sites. I found it to be highly unethical.

Finally, as a sales person your paid a very, very low sum of money for your first 3 weeks and then your on your own, all commision. I resigned after my 3 weeks were up simply due to all the unethical, borderline illegal practices taking place at Floors For Living. However, my last check which would have been under $100, yes under a $100 was kept even though I drove an hour there and back everyday, worked all hours requested and completed training. They claim it was a draw and that I owed them all the money they paid me for those 3 weeks. Even after shamefully making them thouands on sales.

I encouraage eveyone who thinks they have been taken by Floors for Living too post on each and every conumer sight. I hope to educate Sales professionals on how unethical they will try and train you to be and also the consumer who needs to know that they are possibly being taken and paying waaaay more than what is required. Please remember, a lifetime warranty is only as good as the company that backs it up. With their business model they won't be around long. They have done it before.

Who is this

I am not sure who this is. The bad thing about the internet is this could be my competition or anybody because the person who is making these claims doesn't have the courage to expose them selves or give their true identity. What a unique new world. We try to do great and righ by our people and have over 70 employess and 180 subcontractors working for me and being paid fairly every week.

It is amazing how many e-mail that I have received that say this will all go away if I pay them money. I will not be extorted. This uniique claim from an unknown unidentifed person will just have to remain.

Kurt, you're on you way out yet again!

This has nothing to do with maturity Kurt. I think I also will pursue a lawsuit against this company. They owe me well over $2600 in base pay and commissions.

Now back to maturity.

I remember the manager of the Spring store, who claims to be a “co-owner,” slapping his girlfriend silly out front of the store as she laid on the ground screaming. He came in drunk most days, left early every day, when he was there he did nothing but pace and smoke and degrade all the other sales people. Just an awful, awful experience for me as a professional to witness.

Now to Angie’s List. YES, the customers were reimbursed and paid to place their reviews on Angie’s list. Sales people were endlessly harassed to put their own reviews on Yelp, Angie’s List and any other consumer site. So they are mostly faked or bought.

This company is the lowest of low. Like the previous post stated “it’s easy to offer a lifetime warranty when you have been in business just 3 years” and could be out of business any time.

I suspect as more former, current employees and consumer start voicing their complaints, it won’t be long.

Please remember as Kurt constantly bragged “a big lawyer in town financed all this and he will make anyone pay heavily who tries and mess with his company.” Blah, blah, blah!

Heard it almost every day!

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

won lawsuit against company

AUTHOR: Tom - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, March 17, 2016

All complaints are true, not only did I have to sue them, they expecting me to refund all the money they paid me calling it "training pay. They only owed me $300 but the work force commission made them pay me $1000. I'M WORKING WITH THE TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE because of their illigal employment contract. You are put on commission but not allowed to talk to customers. I was made to clean toilets and remodel their showroom for NO MONEY.

Sure, blame the employee when you have incompetant managers. All angie list are lies, They have a secret code on all their prices that shows the bottom line price that they will discount only to people who ask. Don't pay their retail price because they will drop it 50%. They make you make an offer which they automatically say no to and offer a small compromise. Push them for the 50% and they will become spineless. Its true than Kurt ran a crooked carpet company back east. He thought by changing the name he could avoid liability. If he runs into resistance again, he will wash his hands of you. The competition he craps on have been around for decades and since the' ve been around such a short time, the compaints are few. A LIFETIME WARRANTY IS WORTHLESS WHEN YOU PLAN TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS

Note: YOU  HAVE  TO PAY MONEY TO COMPLAIN ON ANGIES LIST> WHO IS DUMB ENOUGH TO DO THAT

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Needs to mature

AUTHOR: Kurt Duitsman - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, July 26, 2015

As with growth of any company you need to hire new associates to take care of your customers. Obviously one of my managers made a bad hiring decision.

My background and professionalism is documented and can be found on the internet. Prior to opening the company I was an Executive Vice President with Carpetland USA of Davenport. I was with them for 25 years. It is easy to google me and my relationship with this company.

I have never worked at or have been involved with a company that filed bancruptcy during my employment.

Reviews are not bought. If you check out Angie's list you will see that we have a few negative reviews. Nobody or no company is perfect. However, incentives for great service are given as they are in most business.

At FloorsForLiving.com there are over 100 reviews with customers phone numbers that can be called and verified.

The youg man did not put the apartment number on his application. Because of this his check did not get delivered on a timely basis. We bank at Wells Fargo and he banks at a Credit Union. It takes longer to set up direct deposit (which is easirer and more convenient for the company) than writing and sending a check. He could have picked it up at our Corporate office instead of haveing it mailed. If ony one would like a copy of his appication and verification that it was the wrong address you can e-mail me. kurt.duitsman@floorsforliving.com

I take great pride in trying to take care of my associates with $400 per month going towards their insurance package, 50% match on 401K and a fair and easy to understand compensation package. The people that we hire are my company.

We just made a mistake with this hire. I wish him the best of luck and hope he matures enough to have a productive future with another company.

Sincerly,

Kurt Duitsman

President/Owner
