AUTHOR: Franks Wholesale Transmissions - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, March 03, 2014

I am going to start from the beginning and address the lies and false accusations by Scott Stromberg.  To get started I rebuild and repair transmissions for many local auto repair shops and fleets. In May of 2013 I was contacted by PJ of HR Motorsports which is one of the local shops that I build transmissions for. I was asked to rebuild a transmission for a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel.  I was told that the transmission was recently rebuilt at a shop in Colorado as a high performance build with hardened billet shafts and racing clutch packs.

Upon dis-assembly there was absolutely no high performance or upgraded parts in the transmission, it was a bone stock transmission build with the exemption of the it having a low end performance torque converter. After the transmission was finished and installed in vehicle it was working fine.  After a short period of time I was contacted by PJ at HR Motorsports informing me that there was problems with the transmission.  At that time I had PJ send Scott directly to me and that was the first time we met and had any contact.  Upon disassembling the transmission it was apparent that the transmission failed due to owner abuse and driving habits, I repaired the transmission under warranty no questions asked.  Scott took his vehicle and a short while later he contacted me again informing me of more problems.  Scott attempted to claim PJ or me turned the power level of the truck to race mode.  That claim is absolutely impossible due to the type of tuner used on the truck, It is not a leave in power programmer that is adjustable on the fly. What Scott did have in the truck was a Bully Dog outlook monitor/data logger and that is not able to adjust power levels.  Upon disassembling the transmission it was obvious that it was damaged due to abuse and negligence on the part of Scott. Again I repaired the transmission under warranty no questions asked, after completing the repair I took the truck for a road test to make sure everything was correct and it was obvious that Scott had De-tuned the truck to stock before bringing it to me because it had nowhere near the power of before, everything was fine and Scott picked up his truck again and the transmission was working properly.

After another week or two Scott's wife came into my shop claiming that the transmission was having more problems and was demanding that I pay to have it repaired by someone else under my warranty, which I would never agree to as I had gone way beyond my duty to repair the transmission after obvious abuse. I told them the I would honor the warranty and to bring it back.  After that I received a letter from Scott's wife demanding a refund and that if did not refund their money they would file complaints with the BAR the BBB and small claims court. They even went as far as to contact the management of complex my shop is in.  But how could I refund money I was never paid.

I did not have to do anything for Scott because I was not paid by Scott to do the work, I was contracted by PJ of HR Motorsports to do the work.

I was contacted by the bureau of automotive repair (BAR) and explained to them my side of the story and that they would make a decision.  I was contacted back by the BAR informing me that they are ruling in my favor and that I had done nothing wrong.

After that I received notice that i was being sued in small claims court by Scott Stromberg and I was listed as a co-defendant with PJ of HR Motorsports.  I appeared on the court date and i was immediately dismissed from the case due to the fact that my contract was with PJ of HR Motorsports and not Scott, I never received a dime from Scott and he just wanted a free transmission. I made every attempt to repair his transmission and I even told the BAR if he brought it back I would fix it.  And to this day I still build transmissions for PJ of HR Motorsports

And to finally address the other accusations. I am licensed by the City of Riverside, The Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) and the EPA.

I do not work out of the back of some shop I am the lease holder of the unit and the only reason my front door remains locked it due to the fact that I am always working in the back of the shop and I am not able to hear when someone comes in the front door when my compressor or parts washer is running. I only use the best quality of parts, which are the exact same parts used from the factory when the vehicle rolled off the assembly line.  And it is not possible for me to charge for parts and use something else because all of my transmission rebuilds are a flat fee it does not matter what parts are needed they are all included in my prices. And for him to say his alarm and stereo do not work is absurd as that has nothing to do with the transmission and more likely it is do to the cheap junk that he had installed in the truck.
