My dilemma began on July 1st when I went to use my debit card. I received a message that my debit card was unable to be processed for the transaction. So I called my debit card number and found out that my debit card had expired on June 30th. I called customer service to rectify the issue with my card. I asked the key question as to why didn’t a replacement card get sent to me. The customer service rep explained that a card was sent to me 2 weeks prior to the expiration date. I advised her that I have never received a replacement card. I currently have a Post Office box, therefore the mishandling of my card is very unlikely. I asked what day was the replacement card process. She couldn’t give me an answer.

 

Throughout the course of the next 11 days I have spoken with MANY different Customer Service Reps and Supervisors, not a single person could help me with resolving this issue. After receiving 3 sets of replacement cards, I have not been able to activate any of them. I have been given the option to purchase a reloadable Green Dot card and transfer money from my account to the newly purchase card. I explained to them, how am I to purchase a card when I cannot use my money. Their solution was to borrow money from a friend or family member. I borrowed money from my girlfriend and went to Walmart to purchase a card for $1.95, come to find out that I needed to load at least $20 onto the card on top of paying the $1.95. I purchased the card, attempted to conduct the money transfer and to my surprise the card that I purchased didn’t have the option to have money transferred from my account on to the newly card I just purchased. At no time did any of the Customer Service Reps or Supervisors instruct me to purchase a specific card or that I had to load $20 on to the card.  Every single time I spoke with a Customer Service Rep or Supervisor they would tell me something new or different. Come to find out that they put a block on my card that I didn’t have due to suspicious activity but I was never notified about the situation. I spoke with Katerina (Customer Service Rep) and requested to speak with a Supervisor she transferred me to the automated survey line and never to a Supervisor. I called back and Katerina answered again giving me a hard time attempting to help me. By this time I am beyond upset and said a few choice words, she threatened to end the call in which I ended up hanging up. I called a third time asked to speak with a Supervisor in which the Rep transferred me.

When I asked one of the Supervisors as to what they can do to compensate me for the mishandling of my account he said that he can waive the monthly fee. I explained to him that I deposit more than the minimum amount, therefore I should never be charged with a monthly fee. At that point he didn’t know what to say nor could he offer me anything else.

On 7/11/16, luckily I live a few miles away from their corporate headquarters I managed to speak with Kate from one of their resolution department and she offered me the same resolution as the other Supervisors, however she could expedite my card to me verses having to wait for up to two weeks.

Green Dot has piss poor customer service, they do not know what they are doing. There is no competent Customer Service Reps or Supervisors. I am currently going on day 11 without having access to my money that I have direct deposit and possibly on day 13 or 14 my issue might be resolved.
