Was ripped off and the owners Jackie and Lori seem stressed to the point where they are illogical and think the customer is just incapable of understanding and the customer is to blame. Cat was referred by full-service vet for leg amputation. Helping Hands is a restricted vet. I made surgery appointment AFTER full service vet sent x-rays and records to them and they reviewed them. After I dropped off cat, they decided not to amputate left leg only because right paw was swollen. Jackie made the insane statement that the cat could be lame in right leg. They told me to get the right paw checked out. And they charged me $175 even though they refused to do surgery. Two more full service vets cleared the cat for amputation. But Helping Hands still refused to do surgery unless they received "proper" x-rays of right leg and pelvis. It is not medically accurate to request "proper" x-rays. So I asked Jackie to put in writing exactly what was wanted since four vets told me that they were baffled by Helping Hands' actions and vague requests. Jackie refused. A full service vet had to call Helping Hands to beg for clarity on the request. I have spent more money on full service vets than I will save by using Helping Hands. One full service vet wanted $1000 for amputation. Helping Hands charges $460 plus they harass you to buy an ecollar for $20. But in my case I will end up paying about $1525 for amputation because I have paid Help Hands $175 for nothing and about $250 in full service vets trying to meet Helping Hands' demands. I spent an entire day traveling to and from Helping Hands and they have not amputated the leg. $175 + $250 +$100 travel costs = $525. So it cost me $525 TO NOT HAVE THE SURGERY done by Helping Hands and I ended up using a full service, logical vet which cost $1000. I would have been better off not trying to save money with Helping Hands. After reading the owner's response to B. Harvey's review, they admit sending people away to get more x-rays and admit that this frustrates clients. But sending a client away only on the illogical concern that the cat was lame even after three full service vets had said it was not and cleared the cat for amputation is a demonstration of the unstable thinking. And for Helping Hands' owner to blame the client on the basis that such a client is only wanting to get in and out is more proof that they are clueless. Here's a smart idea - get an x-ray machine and hire a full-service vet so that if YOU want more x-rays only to cover YOUR liability concerns; YOU can get those x-rays and then you won't have to make the really ignorant claim that ripping of a client is the client's fault. Really ignorant business operation that seems to think it is perfect and the client is the problem. And they don't monitor the pet's vitals while the pet is sedated. So if your pet has any health concerns, they should tell you that they can't service pets with health concerns because it is too risky.
