my wife and I went to Crete, Malia for what was supposed to be an extraordinary holiday. We saw many of the scooters and quad around and thought that this would be a good way to get around as there is no public transport as such. We went to the company called Hermes. We have been quoted 60 euro for 6 days and specifically asked if the price includes insurance and is that the final price. The guy at the register assured us that this price includes insurance and no further payment is required. The real nightmare started when we signed the contract. They road us to they will not let us leave with the insurance that is included and that we need to pay additional 90 euro for the '' full British, no excess'' insurance or we need to leave 250 euro deposit. At this point we knew that there is something wrong and wanted to resign but they said it is not possible '' due to tax reasons''. I do not get easily intimidated and tried to asking to terminate the contract a couple of times more, but the another 3 '' employees'' arrived and I felt like they could do something to us. Without much of a choice I paid additional 90 euro plus another 20 as a deposit for two helmets. Unfortunately this wasn't the end of our trouble with the company. During our stay one of the helmets got stolen ( these were really cheap ones, not worth even the 10 euro deposit that we left). We went back to the company to acknowledge about the situation. We then been shouted at and called names and demanded to pay another 50 euro!! When my wife started crying he agreed to charge us '' only'' 30 euro for a small helmet. I really do not wish anything like that to happen to anyone, the holiday was completely ruined. We are due to bring the bike back tomorrow and really scared what other charges they might come up with.
