Hide My A** VPN (HMA VPN) Review: I signed up for an annual subscription for hide my a** (HMA) proxy service under the 30 day money back guarantee offered by the company. It costed me $59.99. After using the service for a week I requested for a refund since I found that the proxy rotation does not work as promised (breaks down every once in a while). I was shocked that the company treated my refund request indifferently stating some terms that are not transparent. When I persisted, they issued me only a partial refund after deducting 3 months of subscrition charges: 3x$9.99 = $29.97 (though I used their service only for a week within the 30 day money back guarantee period). This company is a scam trying to steal money from people. Stay away from them.

I stick to my accusation that this company is a total scam for following reasons:

 

1. Yes, they state 10 GB limit in their refund policy. But there is no way for a consumer to verify how much bandwidth he/she consumed. Consumption of bandwidth is shown no where in a consumer's account panel. I have read complaints about Hide My a*s VPN (HMA VPN), where consumers say that they just used HMA service only once or a few times and when they filed a refund request, they were told by Hide My a*s customer service that they exceeded the 10 GB limit.

 

2. Let us assume I exceeded the 10 GB limit. The total amount I paid for the annual subscription was $59.99, that is 59.99 divided by 12 = $4.99 per month. Remember I filed a refund request after using Hide My a*s VPN (HMA VPN) for a week (under the 30 day money back guarantee offered by the company). HMA robbed 3 times normal monthly subscription charge: (3 x $9.99) = $29.97 from my payment before issuing me a partial refund, that is, they issued me a refund of only ($59.99 - $29.97) = $30.02. Almost half of the amount I paid for my annual subscription went into HMA's pocket for me using their service for a week. This is not fair by any means even if I exceeded the 10 GB consumption limit. If this is not a rip off then I wonder what is? I am sure people who read this report are clever enough to make a good judgement.

 

I repeat. Stay away from Hide My a*s (HMA) VPN. They will rip you off.

Our 30 day refund policy is designed to give customers a chance to use our product, make sure they can get it working and test it out.  For this reason, we have a bandwidth usage limit of 10GB on the refund policy, to prevent customers from using our service heavily for less than 30 days then claiming a refund.  Where a customer has a subscription of more than 1 month and has exceeded the bandwidth limit, our support agents can use their discretion to offer a partial refund, which is what happened in this case.  Our refund policy is stated clearly on our site and is available to review at the point of purchase.
