 Hello everyone. Im an alcoholic. Ive been sober for a year and a half now. Id like to take this opportunity to expose what i believe to be deliberate and deceptive tactics used to intimidate and cause unnecessary expensive aggrevation to the convicted drunk driver. My complaint is not that i have to have such a device installed in my vehicle. I drove while intoxicated. I had a one year suspension, 5 days in jail and 6 months parole. I went thru outpatient rehab and i attend AA regularly. I got my camera card in the mail about 4 days ago and it is my right to drive again with the ignition interlock for 60 days, i just need to get my photo id. What a journey it has been. Ill stick to the details.

Intoxalock is plastered in every court and probation office staring down at you reminding you this is far from over. Thats ok. I know its part of my sentence. So I call them. A wonderful gentleman from the sales dept becomes MY representative and he had all the answers. I started to feel like everything was going to be ok. He said it was great that i was calling to inquire about a month ahead of time because the process is lengthy and theres a lot of paperwork so in having done so i will probably stand a chance of getting my camera card near my Eligibility date. I guess i should have called 2 months ahead but part of that is DMV dragging their feet because lets face it they know what your palerwork is for. Well it took some time but eventually the gentleman said i was all set and i had my appt for installation and if i ever have any problem they are available 24 hours a day. Little did i know i would never talk to that man again. No. Not even close.

What they have is your account and notes on your account and when you call you get a different person every time and i almost surmise these people work from home via landline telephone after that you get transferred again depending on the issue. My issue is that I have had two faulty units. The first one started after 3 attempts and eventually after having tech support on the line the device went into lockout and you have 10 days to get to a service center. They overnight a new hand held. So again i have someone drive me to a different location as per their request. Idk why but he was in my truck for about 3 minutes to do something that should take 30 seconds. So i now have a new handheld and this was my fault. It does the same thing. Takes 3 tries to start. Why didnt i run back inside? Because its 90 dollars an hour and it started on the third try this guy wouldnt have handed me his business card, he'd just say not his problem call intoxalock. I was like i can live with this if the d**n thing just works. So my friend drives home we park and im like thank god. Now i just need the camera card from DMV. I read the instructions. I saw what it said about making sure to start the vehicle 4 or 5 times a week to maintain the battery if you arent going to be driving. I did it. Well. I tried to. The equipment acts fine, reads differently but they said some of their equipment is newer than others. Sample after sample. Turn the key. Nothing. For the second time now.

Needless to say Im heated but i maintain my composure as i go through their BS of prompts on why youre calling, someone working from home with an attitude who passez you off to tech support for further assistance. Some of these people know what they are doing and some dont and ive caught them witheir pants down twice. One time i called and it had to be towed. I said absolutely not ill exhaust every option before that happens so lets get started. Unplug the device, plug it back in. Huh still nothing? Nope. Are you able to disconnect the negative battery cable. Yes. Ok leave that off for 20 minutes then call us back. Might as well scroll back up. Same BS just a different person completely oblivious to your situation. So how do we go from it has to be towed. To troubleshooting and now officially back to being towed after verifying that i have 12.4 volts everywhere and putting a booster box on for 3 hours because i was told although i have 12.4 volts i may have low amperage. Look up how to determine amperage on a car battery. Its impossible. You cant. Their representatives are useless. Tech support closes their eyes and puts their finger on an answer to your question and if youre too smart for their own good they tell you to figure out the amperage. I know d**n well if i put the booster box directly to the starter id bypass their system and get it started and drive to the dealership but that would be cheating. We want to have you go through the additional aggrevation of having your vehicle towed to the service center that cant get me in until 10 days crom the date i called. The tow bill and 90 dollars an hour come out of pocket and if its their equipment (which it is) they overnight whatever it is and try again.

So here i sit looking at a truck that wont start with a full battery and probably 100 negative samples on record in vain attempts to start my vehicle. Their system may have possibly damaged my starter and if it did whose fault is that? I guarantee a pig has to fly over this service center before they will say its equipment failure. Afterall. It worked last time right? Either way cough it up for the tow bill and however long they want to say it took them because im leaving with the tow truck driver. I literally have no one except my girlfriend in a 50 mile radius to pick me up so i can hover while theu "diagnose" the problem. Im accusing them of using outdated equipment for the technology of todays vehicles. Potentially having caused damage to my vehicle and providing what i suspect are known to be faulty devices so that this will happen.

I may have to follow up on this complaint but I made this account and post because i was google searching intoxalock wont start and low and behold a poor sole is or had gone through the exact same situation. Overall they are a for profit compay and they can charge whatever they want. Ill put up with your nasty sour puss representatives and i will gladly blow negative samples into this system every time i drive and while driving. For a year. Just give me one that works and lord please do not let this voodoo somehow get pinned back on me and make me responsible for the tow bill. 90 dollars an hour and potentially the equipment. And lord i hear the unit click under the dash when i provide my sample which is the sound of the unit saying ok you can start your vehicle. Please. This equipment is outdated and intentionally faulty. I would kindly ask for some kind of customer service after the sale and continual billing as well after having this kind of trouble and we arent done yet. Right now id nust appreciate it if the third time it worked on the first try and continuted to do so. Thank you for reading this and please stand up if im not the only one.
